Nice video iFred, nice pics Phil. To experience a 3'+ snowstorm is on my bucket list.

2.5 inches and blowing snow in North Wales PA.

Keep us updated. I just took a look at the radar and it looks quite heavy and no break for several states

It's a snownami..I can't see anything, lol.

Approaching 10".

Post some more pictures as it goes, and try and include some reference objects or a ruler or something if you can. When we had our 18.5" storm last month it was basically impossible to tell how deep it was without a yard stick. I am sure you know what I mean.

Phil or whoever lives locally. Has a blizzard like this ever taken place during a strong/super el Niño winter?

That seacond storm in febuary 2010 3rd one of that winter was actually a miller B normally miller B screw in our reagion as they form to late but our big hits from pa to maine like last year and most of 2010-2011 cases.but that one was a rare cases miller B hit where it formed or did it phased on top of us.

Just had a very close lightning strike. I wish I was filming at the time.

Edit: Apparently that one was seen/heard from VA all the way to the Mason Dixon line according to observations..must have been an expansive discharge!

Around 2 feet of snow, and still falling. In a relative lull for the time being, but it should pick up here in a few hours.

The wind makes it difficult to measure. Need to take at least a dozen more measurements.

That's quite a "snowcone" there Phil! I'm glad you've finally gotten your snowstorm.

The thunders now is a big extra. I've only experienced it 2 or 3 times in Texas but it's always cool to have lightning and thunder when it's pouring down. Keep those images coming. You'll have to grab one with yourself knee deep in the stuff.

Kevin, nice picture and videos. Were those cars in the videos stalled out on the street?

This is just crazy down by Baltimore and DC, heard that band could be sitting there another 4 hours.

Heaviest snow and strongest winds of the storm here. Snow creeping up to the kitchen window.

Get a picture of that for sure.

Snow is backing into your area from the northeast now. DCA up around 22". So you're in the #2 spot officially.

Still snowing here, approaching 3 feet (35.3"). Report in the town NW of me (Potomac) by a NWS employee reads 36.5", so I'm pretty close!

I had snow over my garage door in Illinois, but not the kitchen window. Thankfully it was on the second level.

Get pictures Phil. Hope you have snow shoes !

Finishing up here, total is approximately 3 feet, give or take a few inches.

Snow began at ~1pm yesterday, and should persist until at least 11pm tonight, so that'd make this at least a 34hr storm. That's the longest snowstorm I've observed in my young life, to this point at least.

Not my pic but I saw it on facebook. This car was completely buried by drifts and the snow plow driver didn't even see it. May have been the first but certainly wont be the last tonight and tomorrow.

I can imagine that won't be the only case tonight into tomorrow. I've seen cars totally buried over before. Can easily mistake it for a drift or a just a pile of snow that's been snowed on some more.

Just parked cars... it'll take them 12 hours of shoveling to get out.

25.1" officially at Central Park as of 7pm... expecting an update at midnight and will be a close call if we break the all time record of 26.9".

Hey Andie! How's it been?

Omg, Kevin! I was thinking of you last week wondering where the old gang was? What have you ended up doing ? And what do you think of this economic outlook. PM me.

I'm writing a lot. Long story. Should publish this late summer, and bored senseless with the winter were having in the So. central Plains.

  • 1 month later...

Adding a few photos/videos of the blizzard that have been sitting in my phone for awhile,

One of the "death bands" that took place overnight. Rates were 3-4"/hr with this one. Wind had not picked up yet.
