Just had a nice period of sunshine, but it is getting cloudy again now. Rainfall totals were fairly low despite getting rain all morning.

It has been raining steadily (light to moderate) here in Orange for the last couple of hours or so. After some rain this morning, it suddenly cleared up and was sunny by early afternoon (the sunny period Mr. Marine Layer was referring to above) with some clouds off in the distance. I had a feeling it may not rain anymore today, but then it clouded over again in late afternoon and there were a few showers around dinnertime and in the evening before this current band came in.

Something suspicious about John Wayne Airport. They are lower than almost any place for the rainfall totals and it shows a few periods of moderate to heavy rain overnight that amounted to 0.01" or Trace.

Fascinating setup for significant rainfall into next week. Models appear to agree that onshore flow/ clouds persist next week and that another storm/ Thursday may be followed by heavier moisture again around Saturday. I haven't looked at data but I'm sure we haven't had this type of extended on/off rainfall since at least 2010 or before. B) Snow levels may not be quite as low as predicted yesterday\  freeze level above low lands in northern California next week per current analysis.

0.12 from overnight showers w/ rain increasing tonight.

It has been raining most of the day today, so it's a bummer that John Wayne Airport rain gauge is broken.

Just took my dog for what should be her last walk of 2016. At first it was dry, but it started misting before I got home. Now it is pouring. My dog hates the rain.Attached File  IMG_20161231_152321.jpg   116.28KB   1 downloads

Santa Ana Engineering is within spitting distance of SNA.

There seems to be way too much difference in rain totals over such a small area, that I believe is about 2 - 2 1/2 square miles. Santa Ana Engineering seems too high, while the Back Bay report is too low. The other three seem about right, though, as they are very close in amount.
