What temperature do you set your A.C. at in summer? I am a guy who likes warm temperatures, so I usually set it between 78 and 80, but most people would say I am crazy.

I find it crazy that in places like Miami Airport it can be around 60 with A.C. while outside it is 95 with a heat index of 115. In summer clothes, I would freeze in the airport there. It's like walking from an oven into a freezer. I know that many people, however, find 68 to be a very pleasant room temperature for shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops.

As low as I can afford when I'm home. Typically ~74 in May/June, but crank it down to 70 in July/August when things get nasty.

Another thing is that California does not have the oppressive humidity that the East Coast gets. So 78 can feel quite comfortable with a dew point of 60 F as compared to a dew point of 74 F.

Dehumidifiers are installed in basically every house here, so it usually doesn't make a huge difference until dewpoints get into the 78-80+ range.

74 during the day when we are not home (but the dogs are) 72 when we are home during the day, and 68 at night.

So nice to walk through the front door on a 90+ degree day like last Sunday and have a nice refreshing coolness hit you!

We don't have A/C at home, but I'd probably set it around 75. I like to wear short sleeves indoors.

It's usually set between 73 and 75 where I work.

I could tolerate lower temperatures, but I find the air from the vents is too cold. I could not work in an office that was 69 with A/C blasting down all day... I'd be wearing a jacket.

We no longer have AC. Not since we've been in Klamath Falls. But when we used a portable AC in Hillsboro it would require an indoor temp of 80-82+. In the evening we usually turn it off unless it's a really warm/humid night.

Here nights are usually more manageable in Klamath with lows well into the 50's or even occasionally upper 40's during a heat wave. 60+ degree mornings are uncommon in our location generally.

Don't have AC and never have, but the hallway in my apartment complex does and sets it at ~70 so we all leave our doors open on the really hot days and steal their cool air.

~ 73-74. With Texas humidity when we hit 100*+ we have to drop it to 72 to fight the heat on the house. Ceiling fans and thermal blinds help on the west side of the house. But bottom line is the air hold the heat in that kind of humidity and just because it's set at 72, doesn't mean you'll get your wish !

Maybe it's old age, but it seems Texas has become more humid over the years. I don't recall that many 100*'days in the 50's and 60's.....selective Alzheimer's ?

71-73 for the most part. At night, especially when it's really humid I might nudge it down a bit lower.

Humidity is a huge factor.  Summers are not particularly humid in California compared to most of the nation. Dew point temps last summer were especially high.  Even in a cool office kept at 69° people had to have fans, my glasses would fog up when I went outside or got into my car.  Some minimum temps near 80°.

My wife doesn't care how hot it gets so usually even 78 is "too cold". I usually go 78-82 if I turn it on, but sometimes I just hold out for fans in the evening and it gets 85-90F in my house.

My personal preference would probably be 74-77 though.

Same, although for different reasons.  Growing up, my mom is like a lizard, so the only time A/C came on was when temps rose above about 105 outside (Inland empire of socal).  Since I'm a normal human being, i came up with clever ways to keep the cool air inside.  85 will work for me most of the time.
