The mountain seems very dangerous and yet planes containing thousands of passengers fly over this mountain. Even if the mountain did not erupt for 16 years but it used to erupt after every 10 years in the past. They should reconsider the route of the airplanes otherwise, it might do a very serious damage.

It IS a mean one, but here's a July report on the magma which apparently went back down.

Usually there is enough ground deformation and changes to give volcanologists a heads up. To general knowledge Hekla doesn't have a shallow magma chamber and the magma may have returned to a deeper chamber.

 

If Hekla does blow, it'll be headlines. And flights in Europe will be a mess.
