Tom

Many of us will finally get to experience our seasons first accumulating snow.  Regional NWS Offices have already issued WWA's for tonight/tomorrow's snowfall.  How much snow will accumulate???  Post Pictures if you are lucky to see some decent snowfall.

Let's Discuss...

Here is LOT's take...

It started snowing here just after 9:00am.  Temps overnight hovered around the freezing mark.  Once the snow started, it began accumulating on the deck/grass/elevated surfaces.  Surprised this little system keeps increasing snow totals.  Hope this is a sign of things to come!

Gosh I miss snow!   Nice bigger/fatter flakes falling as well which makes it nice to see.

Snowfall totals since 8:30am:

2.5" Platteville WI

2.5" Decorah, IA

2.3" Cedar Rapids, IA

1.9" Moline, IL

1.3" Freeport, IL

Nice to hear a lot of us on here getting some good snowfall.  Gotta say, this system wasn't looking nearly as impressive as this thing is turning out to be.   Too bad its going to warm up to near 40F next couple days.  Hope some of it sticks around before the cold hits.

3.5" here, maybe another 1 to go.  We seem to have exited the better flake growth region, as our moderate size flakes have become fairly small.  I'd have loved to be under that yellow band this morning in the Quad Cities.

Just meant the ÑWS headliñes, but thd's a good idea. Sneaky storm. Legit shot at beating 2013's 1st inch+ by 4 days.

It's starting to look like a snow globe around here.  Everything covered in white...nice and calm, daytime snowfall...about to put up my Christmas Tree.  Great, festive mood setting system!  To bad I didn't finish putting up all my decor/lights outside...no biggie though.  I'm going to enjoy this snowfall.

Parts of the QC may very well see 9-10 inches from this.

Impressive overachiever

Subtropical connection for sure.  Love seeing this instead of the NW Flow from the previous 2 cold winters of '13/'14 and '14/'15.  May this year clobber us all!  how much do you have down so far?  I would say I'm closing in on an 1".

About an inch or so but the heavier stuff is about to be here shortly based on radar at least

Waiting for the snow to move in.  The Temperature here is 38° and the reading at the airport is 36° the DP is 25° so that should bring down the temperature once the snow starts here. Also with the later start time the snow should continue until after sun set and that should add to the total (if we can get the temperature down) on the other hand it has not been below freezing here since November 23rd so the ground is still “warm”
