For sure, I'm definitely staying up for the EURO.
Correct me if I'm wrong; 12z euro was showing .5" of precip with high ratios leading to a good amt of snow. Ggem showing a suppressed piece of crap but giving something more than the nam. Very interested in seeing what the 00z shows for them!

12z EURO had a great defo band that sets up from Omaha back west into Central Nebraska. GGEM was crap.

About the same from the last run, just a much smaller band of heavier precip in Nebraska

GFS after the 12z runs is on an Island all by itself. If this thing stays south and hits those same areas in Kansas that have been hit before I'm going to be upset. I would like to see one flipping storm with a total more than 3"!!!

I agree, I'm sick of this crap! We either need a big storm or a huge warm-up.

Another KC, Falls City, St. Joes special. I can't believe how persistent these storms have been this year; all staying to my south. You guys along I-80 are still in the running for some good snows, not so much for this guy! Watch this 2-4" forecast fall as the event nears; I have seen this record one to many times!!

Just insane how we have to worry about mixing issues when the storm times temperatures are supposed to be twelve degrees. If it isn't the track it's the freaking thermal profiles. Predicting a sleet slop fest for Kansas City.

New EURO looks a lot better. .30 to .40 for precip. Interested to see what that comes out for snow. I would think 4-8 inches would be possible if the ratios are high enough.

we're not going to see any watches because the duration is too long. no way we see 6"+ in 12 hours or 8"+ in 24 hours, but hey 4-6" over the weekend is better than nothing. I just wish it wasn't going to be so da*n cold!

12Z GFS was absolute crap for almost the entire state. Anywhere south of Omaha all the way to the west got very little.

Yeah, but I don't consider the southern 1/4 of the state to be "almost the entire state"...
I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

I know with the way winter has gone this year it's really easy to throw in the towel after today's 12z runs. Don't live run to run, lets see what happens after tonight's run when the storm comes ashore. If models trend the same way tonight and tomorrow then I'll put a big fork in this god for saking winter!! I like what Pleasant Hill/KC NWS posted this afternoon as far as snow potential goes:
http://www.crh.noaa....ry.php?site=eax
Also HPC boys updated their maps.

Nws Hastings with there typical conservative approach. Winter weather advisories and watches all around the area. I guess snow will stop at one county line and jump to the next. They even say in their discussion 1-3 Saturday night and 1-4 Sunday.
Yet nws goodland issues advisory for 1-3. Maybe they will be correct but it just appears to not make much sense looking at their website map.

I agree, everyone surrounding the tri cities has some sort of advisory. Looking at the models, I just don't see how they can determine where the advisory should go and where it shouldn't. I honestly don't think the NWS has a clue what is gunna happen.

Nws Hastings, as conservative as Reagan or Bush. Their map is comical. I don't know how every other office has headlines and Hastings has this void. Amateur meteorologists and weather geeks like us would see that this is unbelievable. If they are correct more power to them but it looks foolish to have this donut hole surrounded by color.

edit: was just a quick band moving west based off radar. already stopped here.
Also of note, there was a tornado warning in LA county earlier this morning.

Hastings nws says blossoming snow later in central Nebraska could be robust, their words not mine. Still no mention of accumulation or advisories. They are so conservative with their forecasts that republicans should hire them to defeat global warming alarmists. If you can't tell I am not a huge fan of nws Hastings, but I keep checking there for a good laugh. they seem to always forecast low. Maybe they were burned in the past.

I know. Nothing is on the radar but we have had visibility issues with falling snow and blowing snow. That is why I think if we get an actual band setting up with these cold temps it might add up fairly quickly.

and we're officially out of the winter weather advisory. what a joke of a winter. besides pretty much missing us anyways, the wave that was supposed to hit us this afternoon and tonight really hasn't been that impressive anyway. there's been a few narrow bands of heavier snow but definitely not very wide spread stuff. not sure what this will mean for points east of here
