NWS forecast dry conditions but GFS shows possible subtropical jet energy. Rain would be great relief. Current Wildomar fire [south of Lake Elsinore] is at 700 acres but very light winds.

Not sure why there is a massive difference between NWS and WU forecasts

Marine layer haze is back today. It is not quite as hot.

Houston weather looks to be cool for the World Series this weekend.

Minute Maid stadium roof is staying closed due to cold temperatures! That according to Reid Ryan, owner of the Astros. Also makes the fans yelling even louder.

Current: 88° feels so much better than it has been lately.

Solar declination is within 10 degrees of its southernmost value. Solar noon is within 11 seconds of its earliest time (ignoring Daylight Saving Time). Earliest solar noon is November 2.

Equation of time equal to 16.30 means that solar noon (sundial noon) is 16.30 minutes ahead of clock noon in Greenwich, England.

Sun is out here, but within 2-3 miles of the coast looks cloudy and that stratus deck is very thick for this time of year. November is supposed to be the month with highest percent of possible sunshine in San Diego, as the marine layer is usually weak to non-existent by then and the rainy season does not really begin until late November.

Offshore flow has ended. It will be interesting to see if it rains next weekend, which is also Fall Back. I hate early sunsets.

I hate late sunrises. After a week it won't be black o clock until December when waking up.   Yesterday had such low clouds the street lamps were still on at 8:00 in the morning. http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/word/yuck-smiley-emoticon.gif  Nobody does much in the winter in the evenings outside anyways unless you are a real die hard but more people notice how dark it is in the mornings during winter.

Many farmers outside of this town around here would gladly trade time for 'extra magic hours' in the morning for less artificial light when doing morning chores.

I agree that the late sunrises are a pain too. No fun to wake up when it's still dark outside. The darkest mornings of the year are here now as we don't quite make it to the same sunrise time in January down here, when we get the latest Standard Time sunrise. As you may know, earliest sunset and latest sunrise are not on the shortest day.

Anyway, the sun was out for a while, but the clouds really thickened up over the last few hours, and it's so gloomy that it feels like DST has already ended. Quite unusual to have this June Gloom pattern at the end of October. Usually by then, the inversion is too weak to support a strong marine layer. The inversion will make it harder to hit home runs for the next World Series game in L.A. Too many nerve-racking slug-fests the last few games, where no lead is a safe lead.

I think the chances of Dodgers winning is not too great, sadly, but Angels came back from a 3-2 deficit in 2002.

Classic Cloudy cool Halloween day which does not happen every year, it has been very cloudy for the past 3 days and that trend will likely continue for rest of the week. Rain looks likely on Saturday and last through at least Monday.  http://storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png

I was thinking the same thing yesterday; it greatly improved my attitude that it was cloudy/ cool. October is the end of summer. November mean drops 6°. Rainfall averages around an inch @ USC.
