I am going to count this as the 46th day in a row with snow in my yard... but its looking like this is the last day in the streak.   I can also hear the waterfall roaring on the ridge which means its thawing out.

Snoqualmie Pass still closed this morning.

http://www.wsdot.com/traffic/passes/snoqualmie/default.aspx

About 2.1" in the bucket so far.

Still 18 degrees up there... so nothing has melted.    Looks like it sleeted the entire night,  :)

Amazing how places right along the river are still holding onto some cool air.

One would have to think that at some point PDX jumps up around 50 or warmer today looking at nearby obs.

It's almost like low level cold is difficult to scour out!

It's just air!!!

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

It's been a little more persistent than usual in a small area right along the river. Especially extending all the way down to Scappoose. Sorry if we're dummies for discussing it. :)

Most of the models showed low level offshore flow persisting well into today. What would be amazing is if temperatures popped well into the 40's with those gradients persisting.

Puget Sound got a good 4-12 inches of snow five years ago today if my memory serves me right.

Yeah by the end of that wonderful week I had 17" on the ground.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I got 14" that week. It was fun because I wasn't really expecting too much the weekend before and then suddenly I had over a foot of snow.

If the GFS went out another frame or two past 384hrs it would show us entering the next ice age! Perhaps a fun first week of Feb coming up???

Might start out as a fog inversion but the easterly gradient increase more quickly next week on the new 12Z GFS.

40 degrees and no wind in Tualatin. 10 miles SSW in Newberg, it's 53 and gusting to 20.

Yea earlier this am, a friend that lives at about 1,500ft out of Newberg was just getting rocked with wind, gusts to 40mph  and 42f"  I was at 34 and calm as can be between OC and Estacada.  I've crept up to 42 now at 10am but still no wind.  Fog and rain.

Kind of unimpressed with the rain from this system too, just a little over an inch yesterday.

SEA was only 30% of rainfall for the year before yesterday. After today we will be well over 100% with almost 3" of rain already since yesterday morning.

Wow... I did not realize how much rain had fallen at SEA.    Much less here since yesterday (only about 1.25 inches) with offshore flow keeping the precip rate lower.

Just because the models showed it doesn't mean it isn't interesting.

Toasty 47 degrees in Lake Oswego with very cool low level fog above melting mash potatoes snow.

Last day here then back up to Federal way

Side note.....bought a small generator three years ago and still have not got a chance to use it. I do however start it up around every 6 weeks to work it. It's only 2000 watt, just enough to run freezer and fridg ( alternating) and keep things charged.

And now the sun just came out!

FWIW... the 12Z ECMWF surface maps show sunshine and a dry air mass for everyone all of next week.

Sub freezing lows!

It's almost like you're taunting me to post pics of the feet of snow I had on the ground last month with this post.
