Pretty meh so far. Temps above freezing and no ice.

Feels like a non event TBH.

You realize precip isn't forecast to break out in Omaha until tonight right? Calling this a non event at this point sounds foolish. This is likely to be a long, drawn out event with the bulk of the precip falling with temps at or below freezing.

But it's above freezing right now and temps usually don't fall much

According to the HRRR, the Omadome is still alive and well! Has had this big hole over Omaha for freezing rain accumulation on all of it's recent runs. It keeps us above freezing the entire time so only rain this entire event. I can only assume it's doing that because of the "big city", but didn't realize it does that. Meanwhile all around us there is well over a quarter inch and more.

I feeling it stays above 32 here

Storm cancel here. MPX in the afternoon disco talks about the convection and subsequent latent heat release in IL/MO as the reason why we may not even see a flake/ice pellet/drop here. Reminds me of summertime severe outbreaks here that don't materialize due to convection in the southern US. Moisture and energy is robbed before it can make its way up this far.

I wish it was a bust here, ice is the worst!

GO WILD GO!!

back to the weather--- horrible here in DSM with treacherous conditions - all of this with only .04 or .05 of ice thus far. .25+ is going to shut everything down

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

wow kind of surprising that the 0Z GFS is as juicy as it is as that has been the model that has been the skimpiest on freezing rain, at least for Omaha. The 0Z has another .4-.5" of ice coming for Omaha. We're up to probably a tenth of an inch so far at my place. Everything is a sheet of ice!

Still 32F and FZRA at MCI-- it wasn't supposed to be that cold and still precip at this time frame-- hence why they moved the game time. Not a good sign.

Just went out in Southwest Omaha, NE, and everything is completely iced over. The side roads are extremely treacherous. City crew came by earlier and dumped a ton of sand on the street, but it's not doing much good as I could slide pretty much down the whole street in my tennis shoes. Trees are holding up well in my area so far, small limbs are bending but not much else. Looks like that second wave down in Kansas is going to put down some decent QPF when it gets here tomorrow morning, if it holds together.

Temperature here today got up to 35 before the rain started, and quickly dropped to 31-32 within about an hour of it starting thanks to the "wet bulb" effect and latent heat release from the falling precipitation. Currently at 28.9, on top of a ridge just outside of city limits.
