Typically June is a non-descript month of morning clouds/ hazy sun like it is this year. But the potential for early season monsoon/ tropical Pacific activity is a nice change. CPC has for several weeks been forecasting mid month rain in Arizona w/ potential showers in eastern California/ southern Nevada. Bring it on, Bud. B)

Southerly surge is possible tonight. It was very windy in the desert late Saturday through mid Sunday morning, but the wind has died down today. It's going to be a hot one here.

Desert today is hot, but not quite as hot as they've been forecasting. However, unlike the coastal plain, which often reaches its high temperature early afternoon or sometimes before that due to the sea breeze, the desert reaches their highest temperature around 4 PM or later.

Benedict Canyon[Los Angeles] fire but low wind [below 5mph] and relatively high dew points [above 60] should help.

No extreme heat here in the desert today with the high only 107 F in Palm Springs rather than the forecast 112 F. Still it was a very hot day, but I've seen MUCH hotter. It was actually comfortable in the shade.

Went up the tramway today. It was 72 F on top of the mountain, which was nice with the sunshine and dry air.

72 F on top of the tramway, 112 F in Palm Springs. Quite a difference. Same kind of difference from the coast to the desert, but the drier air in the mountains always feels warmer than marine layer at the same temperature despite the claim that humidity is supposed to make it feel hotter.

Just as hot in the desert as yesterday today and hotter than yesterday towards the coast. However, the onshore push has begun as winds have kicked up in the desert.

Very similar pattern to the May 11 low ahead.

Cloudy even in the desert this morning. Very cool weekend ahead, but maybe not as cool as it could be due to above average sea surface temperatures in the bight. It will be quite a change returning to the June Gloom after 2 days of 112 F.

Not the rainy season.

Of-course but with Pacific tropical activity so close by it is frustrating. California stands out as the least rain-friendly atmosphere in the U.S.  :( especially grievous when ocean temps are warmer than Virginia.

Temperatures are a little warmer than forecast again today and the forecast highs seem to be a little cooler than I would expect the next 2 days given the warm waters in the bight. Many of the May Gray days last month also had higher temperatures than what is forecast for Sunday.

On these June days that feel like March, you forget you can get sunburned quite easily, especially with the longest day of the year next Thursday.
