Dewpoints breaking 70F in low desert; lots of altocumulus clouds preventing stratus formation and suppressing temps.

Not the rainy season.

Of-course but with Pacific tropical activity so close by it is frustrating. California stands out as the least rain-friendly atmosphere in the U.S.  :( especially grievous when ocean temps are warmer than Virginia.

Satellite image shows some erosion from high clouds circulating westward out of Imperial valley.  First day DP's are below 60° on coast side of mountains but currently 70° mugginess in Yuma. Temp has only risen 1° from morning minimum.

Surface gradient must be very strong.  Strong south wind even here w/ gusts over 25mph and much higher in Palmdale. Mostly cloudy and quite cool this early evening.

Deep marine layer now having a cooling effect even in the desert where Rancho Mirage near the 10 freeway is down to 71 F. Last year on June 11, the Palm Springs high was 87 F. In June 2003, they had a high of 85 F as late as June 22.

Phoenix was only 82 F for the high, far away from any marine layer influence. The cool temperatures there were due to the remnants of Bud.

Marine layer has made it all the way into Bakersfield this morning.

Stratus enveloped the entire San Joaquin valley this morning; how often does that happen anytime of the year [excluding tule fog?]

Some broken clouds here; current temp is 65.9°. Minimum managed to reach 59° even under low overcast.
