MLK Holiday Clipper

The system overperformed in central Iowa and underperformed here a bit.  I finished with 1.5 inches from 0.10" of liquid... so 15 to 1 ratio.

Oddly, DVN's late evening graphic upgraded us to 3-4 inches for some reason.

season snowfall: 34.8"

'22-23: 30.2"      '21-22: 27.1"      '20-21: 52.5"      '19-20: 36.2"      '18-19: 50.2"      '17-18: 39.5"

Average snowfall: ~30"

2.1" here just W of DSM. Way under done by the NWS which makes up for the bogus WSW last week when less then 1" fell.  DRSN and BLSN overnight especially in rural areas

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

I'd love to be underneath that lake plume hitting just east of GRB.  I bet its puking snow at 2"+/hr right now.  Should be interesting tracking this feature as it pivots down the WI shoreline.

Wow, you ain't kidding!  Over a Foot and counting...I knew this set up would produce some lolipop totals up there and I think the higher rez models are under playing the strength of this band as it pivots down the lake.  How far inland are you located from the lake??  Your in Wisconsin Rapids???

Looks like yet another underperform for our area Tom

Southwest burbs cashed in big time...reports of 6.1" in LaSalle and there is another blossoming snow shield in that area.  They're gonna do good down there.  Let's see if it spreads up this way.

how much has ORD reported?

Edit... nevermind just saw 1.8 as of 7 am

I looked at the past radar trends and the bands of snow were weakening just as they approached my area and literally a county to my west cashed in on the higher totals. Hoping I can make up some of that from the lake later tonight into tomorrow.

This was kind of a let down system. I finished with 1.7 inches for a total.

The corridor from Waterloo through our area got the least amount, while a band farther west and south got more.  Oh well, it's just a quick-moving nighttime clipper.

Never a head left unscratched with my WFO. My headline called for 1-3" yet this map is surprisingly more impressive with 3-4" for mby
