It's always nice to wake up and look out the window and see white when you were expecting nothing.

Oh for sure lol. We got under an inch at UNL.

Airports are under orders to under-measure to prove Global Warming!

Seasonal total: 17.0"

Well, I'm ahead of the state capital, Pierre (less than 150 miles to my ENE)...where all of 4.4" has come down this winter...so that's nice.

It's pure heaven out there right now with the winds howling and white powder blowing all over!  Nice fat dendrites falling from the sky...looks beautiful out there.  Def big fluff factor with this stuff.  It's amazing how much snow can make you forget about how rough this past week has been for me.

That's mind boggling that Pierre, SD has only received 4.4 inches of snow this year... hoping for their sake that they can cash in on some decent snows during the Spring or most of the state of South Dakota will be in a moderate to severe drought by Spring/Summer if the patterns stays dry (joining the west side of the state where you are at).

Only measured 1.5" on my deck, with more snow to come.  Likely will approach 2" by the time all sudden done.  Not bad, given what the expectations were last night.

@ CentrelNeb, you look like you have been getting pounded with mod/heavy snow over the last few hours. How's the scene?

Solid 4-5” or a little more with quite a bit of drifting. I think our town was caught off guard as they are just now plowing the snow routes. I was in 4x4 in the truck to make it to church and streets were bad. Usually average 300 at the 9:30 service, barely 100 present. Our pastor was contemplating canceling but we cancelled 2 weeks ago. Largest storm since blizzard of February 1, 2016. Pastor also mentioned the hype of the blizzard 2 weeks ago that was a dud and this was forecasted to maybe be an inch with little wind. I had to chuckle. Even pastors can comment on the NWS.

To place things in proper perspective; the Pactola Dam received 44.6 inches of snow from the October 3, 2013 snowstorm; so its usually a pretty good station for snow!

I just came in from clearing the driveway. I have 7” of new snow and with the 1.5” that fell Friday night there is now around 8.5” of snow on the ground here. There was some blowing so there are some drifts in the 12” plus range. Still getting light snow here now with a temperature of 19°

Still getting light snow here with a temperature of 18° Looking out the basement windows they are covered over half way up that is only the 2nd time that has happened this year. when the windows are completely covered then I know we have well over 15" on the ground. Nor feeling well with that flu so have not took a reading since I cleared the drive but looks to be at least a inch or more since then so might be getting close to 9 to 10 inches

LOL the Lincoln airport reported a trace on the day. They have always been actual trash when it has come to measuring wind-driven events. Since the blizzard of Christmas 2009, they have recorded significantly less for almost every wind-involved event than the rest of the city. It's almost like they plop down the snowboard in a random spot without regard to how the wind will affect it. From being up in that region today I'd say they maybe got a few tenths of an inch. It was crazy, I was all around Lincoln today and many areas, namely around the Southwest side had close to nothing. I was definitely the jackpot area for Lincoln today.

Late-game rally with this storm this late pm got mby close to the 4" mark and I am super happy with how it turned out. Already under headlines for 3-5" more tomorrow night. Suddenly GRR is bullish on everything! This feels strange tbh, lol

Congrats to all who scored and to any Eagles fans across the sub!

You can see from this morning's depth map how the best forcing rode literally right along the 94 corridor in SWMI. Good thing the backside over-performed or the event would've been half what was called for by the NWS in places like Kzoo, BC, Marshall
