Looks like the Euro keeps us in the 90s or higher down here through day 10. Score!!!

Incorrect... its shows only 89 at PDX next Wednesday!

Then 92 again on Thursday.

Yeah, in years past I wouldn't question it much but they really do seem to somehow tack on an extra degree or two every day now, and it's often between observations. Yesterday the reported 6 hour max at 5pm said 97 and yet the high was 98 at 4:30. There's been at least a few days like that.

DEN does that almost daily.

You are having way too much fun with this. :)

FWIW... I would be very happy with nothing but 70s and 80s for the rest of summer.

I would love to see Seattle hit a hot 100 at least once this season!!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

We are lucky to live on a planet where 105-110 is the maximum possible temperature in most areas.

Imagine if it got up to 300 degrees during heat waves and you died just by going outside.     The universe is a cruel place.

Not much summer heat there, either.

Hot and dusty is awesome if its climo!

I would really miss the mountains and greenery of the PNW.

Would be a lot closer to the kids though. Only about 5 hours from Santa Fe too. I thought my very soon to be wife would shut it down, but she is actually very enthusiastic about at least considering it.

It is actually a bit cooler in the summer than Tulsa, and warmer in the winter. 8.2" of snow annually is a bit more than PDX.

I didn't realize Lubbock had 250k+ people. Easily bigger than Salem.

Climate-wise, they're sort of a warmer version of Denver. Though wetter in the fall.

I was just thinking there was not nearly enough Bethesda content on this page.

More than enough Tim/rain talk in the summer contest thread, though.

Yeah, it is about the size of Boise. When the opportunity came up I almost did not even look into it, but when I research Lubbock it seems like a better place then I had assumed. Still only about 25% chance I will take it, but I am going to definitely give it some thought.

From Michael Ventrice

“Both the ECMWF and GFS Ensembles suggest that the eastward propagation of the MJO across the Pacific will be stunted via the emergence of what is likely the emergence of an El Nino atmospheric standing wave. MJO activity often reduces during strong ENSO base states.”

August hot box incoming?

No..the models have already begun retreating from those projections, as far as I can tell. The eastward progression of the MJO is always stunted to some extent when crossing the Pacific. The question is precisely how much, in this case.

The GEFS has a well-documented Pacific forcing bias, and the EPS weeklies were just over-coupling to SSTAs in the extended range. There’s not much of a standing/wave low frequency niño signal in the longer range modeling, at the moment. At least none that I can see.

We are also lucky to live on a planet where there is a water cycle and rain. Seems you are still having a hard time swallowing that pill for being so enlightened. Rainy holiday weekends. The universe is indeed a cruel place.

Probably much cheaper cost of living there...I would think?

I can sort of understand why Andrew would consider moving somewhere that is legitimately hot and dry rather than staying here. Almost better being somewhere where it’s normal compared to sticking around and watching our lush region slowly wither and die.

More Bethesda stuff for Jesse. ❤️

Decent strike this afternoon. Hit a few streets over.

Makes for easy landscaping when Booze Creek is only 100ft away. Just have to walk down there and grab the best looking rocks.

We are very lucky to have rain and a sun that is just the right distance away!
