Nice to see the 00z runs cutting back on precip totals. Would hate for this weekend to be a total wash out!

It does show rain up here on both days.

The 12Z GFS continues the trend of nudging the ULL slightly to the NW with each run... heading through Vancouver Island now.

The main event for western WA appears to be on Saturday afternoon and evening but there also appears to be some sun on Saturday.   Maybe some convection?

WRF shows some heavy showers rolling through King County during the afternoon on Saturday with sun breaks in between... looks like an active day.

As of 9 AM in Battle Ground, running 7 degrees cooler than yesterday at the same time. 66 currently.

How’s the smoke?

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Turns out I'm not just imagining it, trees are dying and we are in the midst of a 4 year drought (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/vancouver-island-trees-showing-signs-of-stress-due-to-drought-and-heat-exposure-1.4778168). Tim Ebata does his best at putting a positive spin on it:

By losing a mature tree, for example, you're losing shade. You're losing a potential habitat for various species. But dead trees also serve as habitat for a number of other species too. So it's sort of a mixed blessing having a tree die in a forest

Central valley is almost as smoky as the south valley.  With the heat there's very few people out and the students don't come back until Sept so it's an absolute ghost town this time of year.  Went into the pub last night and there were like 5 people there.  During the school year, it's unusual to have fewer than 40.

12Z ECMWF also shows PDX at 98 by Monday... with an unimpressive 500mb pattern.   And then 97 at PDX on Tuesday.

Here are the highs on Monday:

Thought next week was gonna be heatless?

Monday and Tuesday look strange... should not be that warm.

12Z ECMWF does show SEA and PDX down in the low to mid 80s by Wednesday.

Forecasted airmass is only a degree or so cooler than the airmass that is currently overhead. Stronger offshore flow and probably less smoke on Monday/Tuesday looks to be the difference. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

A small change in position of the advertised surface low is making the difference those days.

Heat is back by Friday on the 12z Euro.

Mountains around Bozeman don't count. ;)

We're bone dry this week. Was hoping you guys could finally see something but the NW trend of things is not great.
