August 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

I noticed a little bit of haze looking off 5+ miles, but haven't smelled any smoke today. It just smells damp. 0.01" so far today.

I think it has been more banked up against the hills and in the south sound.

Going to lake city anf riding on some of the highest jeep trails in the country. About 13500 to 14000ft. Crazy.

I hope you acclimatize yourself. It can be a shock from going from a couple hundred feet to over 10,000 feet in a day or two.

Wow that is sad. We have lucked out with the last two in a row being white!

Yep, pretty ridiculous. I look forward to seeing your snowfall reports this winter and I have much respect for moving to a sweet location based on local snowfall research.

AQI values not as bad as they've been in the area. Generally between 140-160 right now. Hopefully those fires on Vancouver Island will start to wane in the marine air mass.

Good to see I won't be alone in the south valley starting in October.  I've gotta think it's the longest Eugene-Springfield has gone without one.

Yesterday may have been the nicest day of the summer. Attended a beautiful wedding down in Monroe, OR.

Looks very nice. And 100% opposite of what we had up here. I would have been praising a day like that as well. We have not had a day with blue sky and good visibility like that since probably early August. I am going to check the space needle cam archives. I know its been a long time.

We went to a party in Seattle yesterday that was supposed to be on the water but was moved inside.

Yesterday was the worst of all combinations. Normally when its smoky you can say at least says it warm and dry. And when the rain comes then you can say at least the air is clean and the smoke is gone. But yesterday we had thick mid level clouds over low clouds over thick smoke and haze with drizzle... and it was cold. And it smelled like smoke.

I have never experienced anything quite like it.

Today looks like it will rain all day here but at least the air is getting cleaner. A dark and gloomy weekend for the Seattle area.

The smoke really does look like it will be totally gone by tomorrow morning.    It seems like the Puget Sound basin has become a trap for all the lingering smoke over the last few days.

Contrast the scene above with Seattle at the same time yesterday. Best day of the summer here? No. It was dark in Seattle and the AQI was around 150 with the smell of smoke and it was drizzling and in the 50s.

You act like we are describing the same day as you and we are all just making it sound bad. I assure you we would have been very happy with the weather you experienced. :)

I didn't doubt it was a yucky day up there, but down here it really was beautiful. This was right before sunset.

You did seem to doubt us yesterday.

Just saw all your pics on FB... looks like a perfect day.

Wow Tim, and you say others are building straw men. Andrew did not say anything close to what your are accusing him of. You have issues man....

He actually did... lumping the entire PNW together despite the fact that the people up here were describing a completely different and obviously much uglier day than he was experiencing.   ;)

In reality despite the histrionics it is a pretty nice day across the PNW. Probably nicer than most days we have had recently.
