September 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Yeah, I double and triple check it, but right now it is showing a low of 50.

Looks like it slipped in there. Must have occurred in some sort of sweet spot where it didn’t show up on either of the six-hour round ups. Cancel the investigation!

Per the 12Z ECMWF... it starts late morning on Friday and then Friday afternoon is very wet across all of western WA.

Looks like we are in a post-frontal situation with a strong SW wind and a c-zone to the north by evening.

Looks a bit drier where I'm going on Camano Island, so maybe I'll just start early.

Looks like many of the low spots in the Columbia Basin saw their first 30s of the season this morning, including Pasco and Hermiston.

It's always interesting to watch the east side cool off relative to the west side as September progresses.

We need that east side to be an ice box in Dec.

I've got the Bears covering tonight. Not liking what I'm seeing from the Hawks so far.

High of 74 after a low of 29.

If you add another 6 degrees and freezing fog at sunrise, that's like an early October indian summer at KLMT!

The offense is doing a great job getting minus yards per play! And I don’t think Wilson will make it through the game without getting carted off the field.

High of 63 here. Going to be a colder night with a dew points in the mid 40s currently and clear skies. Interesting seeing the clouds over the mountains and not here.

Their offense is so pathetic... like they don't even belong on the same field.      Hard to watch.

How many inches did you get from the late February event?

It came in 3 waves if I remember correctly. The first dumping with that rotating convergence zone gave me 4". That was a big surprise. That set the stage for the next 2 rounds and I ended up with a maximum snow depth of 8 inches. The amounts were much higher as you got up into sandy and Welches. Sandy had a foot.

Were losing that daylight quick. About 60 here.

Any idea when this will turn around?

I heard a rumor that the sunset in Seattle will stop getting earlier in just 81 days.

Ifedi. Yikes.

They need to scrap the O-line and start over.   And pay top dollar for the best players.    And then get some rookie receivers.   Put all of the focus on giving Wilson time and let the rest work itself out.   Watching this complete joke of an O-line year after year and Wilson immediately running for his life on every play is SO tiresome.

What I did yesterday instead of watching football. Before and after. Wanted to get the overgrown entryway landscaping cut way back before winter.

Down to 55 now.

Side note... the PDX observation shows a temp of 66 and dewpoint of 46 with some high clouds.

I was mocked for saying those conditions were beautiful back in mid-April. In fact... Andrew said his wife said it was hot and humid on one such a day and I was wrong for saying it was pleasant. Now they want to move to Dallas. ;)

Another person described literally the exact same conditions in April as being "soupy" and miserable for a run.

That person was probably used to winter temperatures of 40s and 50s so a jump to 66 with some humidity could feel a bit warm, especially after running 5 miles. Also, that person didn't say it was miserable, just soupy. Seems like a pretty reasonable guy to me.

I assume today did not feel "soupy"?

Nope, not after getting accustomed to 90s.

I don't think that 66 degrees with a dewpoint of 46 can ever really feel "soupy".

We spend most of our lives in an air temperature between 68-75 in our homes and in almost every public place.

Hey Phil, your thoughts on the current easterly QBO and centrally based Nino actually producing a Modoki El Nino this winter?

I'm thinking based on early data, the east get's hit hard this winter.

Ugh

It is constantly soupy inside buildings.

So says my wife who needs a jacket to even step inside Safeway.   Most restaurants are annoyingly chilly as well.
