Local mets are still following the notion that the far Southeast corner of the state will get the highest totals. I wonder if they've even looked at models today.

Unrelated, but HRRR looks to be advertising a 4:1 ratio tomorrow. Yowza.

I'm getting rather nervous. Even with the strong North wind, the temperature is basically stuck at 37 and it's looking like the heaviest precip will fall as rain. Not good.

Sole ptype here is now sleet. In the past 90 minutes, the temperature has not deviated more than 0.2 degrees from 37*F. Yeah this is nerve-racking. I think the precip was too progressive and now it appears that we may be lucky if we see any snow accumulation at all.

I have 1/2 mile visibility and snow. Temp at 29 but streets are just wet. Maybe less than an inch on grasses and roofs. Back edge of snow is only 2 counties west of me. No biggie, at least I saw some snow. Hopefully this is a pattern in winter like we have had the last few weeks.

40 dbZ readings are headed my way. We're at 36.7*F now. Still nervous as hell. Ptype is back to rain here as we sit under some 25dbZ readings.

EDIT @ 8:36: Not worth a new post but it's back to sleet.

Snow northeast of Lincoln about 10 miles. Been snow here since a little before 8:00. Nothing sticking, not even to the grass. Not thinking we will see accumulation with ground temps setting at 52-54 degrees but either way cool to see in october.

Ground temps shouldn't be much of a problem with the rate and the fact that we've had rain to cool the ground down. Thinking grass and roof accumulations are likely. Ratios are the only negative factor here.

Another thing I am nervous about is being slotted. There's a nice big fat donut hole that's looking to target the Southern part of the county, but those tend to turn towards here in SE Lincoln cuz lol why not. If that comes here then yeah there probably won't be accumulations.

Temps are still falling rather rapidly. Down to 35.6*F here.

Really coming down here. Now accumulating on the bushes and on the rooftops. This will likely be recorded as a measureable snowfall, about 3 weeks earlier than the average date.

About 0.3" of slush on elevated surfaces here. If it were December or January it'd easily be 2-3". Light snow should continue for a couple more hours but I'm not expecting any additional accumulations.

North of Lincoln grass completely covered and concrete starting to get covered in the last 10-15 mins. Crazy rates of snow. Probably 1/4-1/2 mile visibilities. If I knew how to post photos on here I would

Coming down pretty hard in Omaha right now, snow now sticking on the grass and especially on elevated surfaces.

Went into church this morning with light snow flurries falling and nothing sticking, to now most everything has a thin coating of snow on it outside of the concrete surfaces.

It’s just ripping right now! Visibility down to a half mile and I’m up to 2” from my estimation. This thing over performed for me for sure! I can’t figure out why my pics are sideways but you get the idea!

I like to use our towns grain elevator as a gauge for visibility; it’s about 2 blocks away and I couldn’t see it during the heaviest band! I went out and measured 3” of snow, not bad for October 14th. Last year we had our first inch of snow on Halloween.

The heavy snow on the tree leaves is causing a lot of them to fall today. Might be leafless trees a lot sooner than normal this year.

It's remarkable here. Puking snow and doesn't look to end anytime soon. Grass is completely covered here, and so is the parking lot. 32.3*F.

Winter Weather Advisory just issued for 2-4 inches of snow for the Omaha metro area.

Snow is still coming down like crazy here, even accumulating on the side streets now. We easily have 1.5 inches of snow on the ground in my backyard... this is awesome! Winter wonderland out my window currently.

If we get another 2-3 inches of snow, there might be issues with falling tree branches, as the fully leafed out trees are already being weighed down noticeably by the heavy wet snow.

Absolutely amazing. Picturesque day outside, 6 months to the day of our last spring snow. Basically best case scenario for us for once.

Ratios are no longer a major issue as temps are about at the freezing mark now. Still below 10:1, but not by much.

If Omaha beats 3.5", it would be the biggest October storm since 1997.

Iowa getting in on some snow! Advisory has been issued.
.UPDATE...
Issued at 1259 PM CDT Sun Oct 14 2018

Heavier band of snow expected over portions of western Iowa this
afternoon. Have added a
WW.Y for that area. Though snow will not
be as heavy in our area as in Nebraska, a small potential for some
snow covered roads. Also, due to the wet and heavy nature of the
snow - even 3 to 4 inches may cause some local tree damage and

power outages to areas that receive the heavier snowfall. The
advisory will expire at 7 pm this evening.
