You may be the only person to read this article. It's not short, but this geologist proposes that it wasnt the meteor and Deccan Trapps that got the dinosaurs, But the massive volume of deadly gases sufficient to kill everything of from the eruption. The volume was staggering.

 

This geologist has been attacked endlessly, but she's relentless. And she just may be right.

She is slowly building her case.

 

Her career is already heavily invested in this and I think she wants to tip the scales of the argument in her favor.

She's been gathering empirical data on it and the extinction will be established through the massive gasses that overwhelmed our atmosphere.

 

I'm looking forward to her winning the argument. It will also establish the concerns we humans should have should we see a large impact on the planet. The Earthquakes and tidal waves may be the good part. Volcanic activity and atmospheric gasses may kill a lot of us off. So, her work is not just about the past. It could affect how we address the future.
