Nice round of fluffy snow globe type snow this morning ahead of the arctic front. Walked the dog for a bit longer because she won't want to be outside this afternoon.  :D

Sitting near the high temp right now and should begin falling the rest of today. Strong wording by the NWS GRB for next weeks arctic outbreak.

Behind this system, there is a possibility of an even more severe
arctic outbreak by the middle of next week. Some of the coldest
air at 850mb across North America will be across the western Great
Lakes. The ECMWF surface temperatures off the model only indicated
temperatures in the teens below zero at 18z Wednesday. ECMWF
numerical guidance indicated highs in the single digits below
zero, although these values that far out are weighted toward
climatology. The arctic outbreak for the middle of next week
could be one of the most severe in several years. Stay tuned!

00z Euro is showing multiple weak disturbances through Noon on Sun around the area that may lay down a couple inches before the bigger Clipper arrives late Sun-Mon.  I'm sure we'll have a lot of happy faces in MI.  Gosh, the signal for some nasty lake streamers is the real deal.

Come to think of it, I remember back in Jan '14 we had similar disturbances out ahead of the Arctic Attacks which brought some very intense instability snow showers.  The coming few days could end up transpiring in a similar fashion.  I won't be surprised if some peeps locally experience some intense snow showers along the arctic fronts outside of the snow belts.

I'm going to be buried.

If this cold shot comes to fruition there are numerous areas that could break all time low temp records.  Not daily records but all time records

On some runs, even the State of Iowa all time record low is in jeopardy. Especially on the Euro. -46 degrees.

I'm way more jealous of this than the clipper. GFS tries to get it over here but the euro is looking east still.

With the bigger clipper and the arctic outbreak next week, I haven't seen too much talk about the clipper tomorrow. Could drop a sneaky 1-2" across much of E IA and N IL. Hardly as noteworthy as whats up ahead, but the unique thing this system has going for it is the extremely cold air it has to work with. Could be looking at ratios of 20-25:1. Snow in the single digits, THAT's winter.

Also noting the strange looking DGZ on this sounding. Since the surface layer is a part of the -12 to -18c zone, it's technically in the DGZ? Though this could be the algorithm messing up, as a DGZ from 800 to 700mb seems more probable.

I think the areas most likely to see accumulation from this are south of I-80 here in eastern Iowa. But yeah, could add an additional inch or two from it.

I came down with some kind of bad bug last night was up much of the night coughing and then had some bad chills and took my temperature and had a fever of 101.3 so I took some advil and a good dose of Nyquil and then slept most of the day. Sill not feeling right yet. But hey you do not want to hear about me right? Well here at my house about 10 miles NW of Grand Rapids I am getting light snow at this time and there is now 1.5" of new snow on the snow board unlike the last snow this is a very dry and fluffy snow. There is now a total of 4.5" of snow on the ground here. the temperature is now at 23.5°

Squalls pushing through my area now as I type. Could amount to an inch or more. Travel could become tricky tanite. Temps will be dropping into the teens and remain there throughout the weekend. Hopefully, some sunshine can return by the weekend, but for now, looks like a lot of clouds will dominate MBY.

Did not know it was that snowy to my west. Looks like it will be a snowy night. WOW! Everything outside is starting to cover up.

Currently getting some awesome snow squalls. Wind is picking up as well. This is what I was looking for today and throughout the weekend.

:)

NAM revived the 94 weenie band overnight. Would be quite the pleasant surprise if it happens!

Your in the game Jaster...I'm actually going to be a little jealous watching those streamers coming off the lake all week long.  Someone in lower MI is going to get buried.
