Still a trough today keeping things rather cool and even causing a chance of thunderstorms in the mountains. That was not forecast yesterday. Then by next weekend another chance of showers, which usually means a pretty good chance of no showers here.

 

Lots more sunshine than yesterday, as I get my 3rd spam call of the day on my smart phone while typing this.

A 1% chance of showers is a 99% chance of no showers, but for those who are optimistic about getting some rain, "So you're telling me there's a chance. Yes!"

Its been dark and cloudy to the east all day, with lower clouds drifting over us this afternoon.

 

Not much to see from my location though.

The thunderstorms generated some pea sized hail in San Diego County Estates. Areas around Julian also got about a quarter inch of rain.

East of here, Anza got a hint of rain earlier as well (0.02").

Right on the edge of the low clouds this morning, which have become dense fog rather than the deep marine layer of the last few days.

86 in Santa Maria now. The NWS forecast was 78F, while WU was 81F for today. Hotter than expected.

 

This Spring is way better than last year's spring where is was constantly cool and windy. I like the variation this year

It's foggy here this morning, which is no big surprise. John Wayne Airport was only 70 yesterday.

Looks like pretty good clearing at the beaches today although it took a while, but it would still be nice and cool for you there.

Cloudy, but not quite as foggy this morning, with clouds starting to burn off here in Irvine.

Beaches cleared out pretty well today, but it's not May yet.

There were some distant clouds over the mountains to the east, but otherwise a copy of yesterday here.

This month is currently two full degrees above normal here, the first warmer-than-average month since November.

 

A dry Spring as well, reminding me of the Spring months of 2008 and 2009.

Marine layer is clinging tenaciously to the beaches and even has begun to spread inland in some areas.

Cooled off very, very quickly this evening. 65 F and rapidly falling. That's a far cry from this time over the last few days where it was still above 80 F.

Low clouds arrived before dark, but it was pretty warm until about 6 PM and then temperatures started to plummet.

Low clouds pulled off the coast for a while, but they are already starting to come back inland. Made it to about 73 this afternoon.
