Up to 4.5-5 here. The dry air is fighting to get in but the band still living on, even trying to redevelop.

Yeah it looks like the backside is trying to pivot around. Hoping dry air doesn't zap some of the better returns down near Neb City before they get here.

I need to stop reading this thread.   So depressing here in GR.  So brown.  So close.  So sad.  Here's to hoping for second half of winter to bring cold and LES.

About 4 inches in my backyard in Southwest Omaha and it’s moderately snowing currently. After writing this one off as another dry air disaster around here last night, I am glad I was wrong.

And you know the the best part LNK, Norfolk picked up 0 inches of snow from this system.

I think it's a solid 5-6" in the downtown/campus/Haymarket area. Though it gets harder to eyeball the higher totals get. Likely can offically call it 6" by the time it's over.

We need over 6.1" at the airport to officially have a top 5 day in January, so that's what I'm hoping for up there. We've already cracked 7" down here.

I don't think this gradient is gonna be nearly as sharp as some models said it was going to be. The dry air was weaker and as a result, there's a much larger fan of lighter snow to the north. Meanwhile, much of Linn County is in a bit of a lull at the moment. Hopefully it fills back in.

Eastern Cass and Otoe counties have been under that heavier band almost all morning, going to be some lollipop totals in that area. As the band has been retrograding west it seems like it’s been losing its punch a little bit. Still snowing moderately here though.

Yea still snowing good here but definitely our last bang for this storm. Won't complain I got my forecast. Always find it crazy how just the setup of one band can make things go crazy. 12 inches reported down there now.

While they can certainly be too east-coast-megalopolis-centric, they've been reporting from Missouri for the last day.

The flakes are small, but the visibility is currently the lowest I've seen today.  Radar shows a nice band moving through.

Rates have picked back up here. Really impressed with this band just hanging over Iowa.

According to TWC, DC is the only city being affected by "Winter Storm Gia." They've turned into complete garbage.

That's why I stopped watching them 10 years ago.

@Tom hows it over there? Looks like Chicago is getting hit pretty good.

Just got back from shopping and errands. The steady snow filled in about an hour ago and the flake size is decent with -SN at the moment. I measured about 1/4” on my deck. I’m really enjoying this daytime snow. So glad the system is managing to track just far enough N to get N IL in on the action. The landscape is turning white and I expect to at least score 2-3” out of this. It seems like forever since the last time it snowed.

I love how slow this system is crawling east and hopefully those heavier returns make their way up here. Snow should fall well into the night.

I'm pretty much giving up on any additional significant accumulations so I just went out and took my final measurements. The fact that the snow turned powdery towards the end combined with the fact that the wind kinda picked up this morning made measuring a bit more difficult than expected. Measured anywhere from 6" to 7.5", averaging out to 6.5". Coulda done better but 6.5" is better than I was reasonably expecting from this thing so hell I'll take it.

I live in the south suburbs of Kansas City, about 20 miles south of downtown.  I just measured several places in my yard and my neighbors' yards.  We've received about 11.5 inches of snow.  Looks like we will end up with a foot or just shy of that.  This is the largest snow IMBY since 2014.  It's heavy and wet.  Lots of tree branches down and some power outages.

Just shy of 3.5” here on my back deck. I was in Coralville about 2 hours ago 5 miles south and they were already at 3” then. Should get another inch yet. Very steady light snow. Not sure I’ve even seen a burst of what I’d call moderate yet. Visibilities are not that bad.

Looks like 4.3" at KLNK reported at noon, so probably not too far from the final total. To be fair, the airport didn't get the best returns, but still kinda lame. Regardless, still a nice little storm.

Pleasantly surprised to see how far north that defo band is slowly pivoting across N IL.  West/SW burbs are looking real good ATM and even towards the south side of Chitown.

Having been on that end of these storm threads a ton, I completely understand what you are saying.

Wow look at that, someone who has been shafted constantly is being sympathetic in a thread to someone who has been gifted the past couple years who is now “complaining”. Looking at all of you who got mad at Neb posters for being upset at getting shafted the past few years. Congrats tho man! Wish I was there to see it :)

This Texas boi is loving it! Glad to have a personal best that's actually appreciable for once. No heavy snow out of this thing, but it consistently fell overnight to just keep adding up.
