Fucksatawney Phil saw his shadow and it said 34 degree rain in Portland for two more weeks.

This month blows.

I’ll do my best to wake up before sunrise next year.

Temp not moving here, so guessing it will stay snow all night here. Gonna be a lot of digging out tomorrow.

Just went through the 00z WRF and realized it has FOUR separate minor lowland snow events after this one. Just goes to show you the incredible staying power of this pattern.

The rain band has mostly stayed right to my west all night. I think it’s finally slipping south now. It’s still 44 so it’s about to get REALLY snowy.

Haha! I will say it's interesting that the radar is picking up snow returns stretching across the tops of the west hills coming into town now. Its 40 here at 830 feet so nothing here yet, but maybe we are seeing the cooling above now. PDX airport just fell 11 degrees to 35.

47 with light rain.  If someone living here in EUG hadn't been paying attention to the weather, they wouldn't have known there was anything unusual about this pattern. A few chilly days but nothing all that different for February.  This year is still way down in the bottom half of the 30 I've experienced in Oregon. And incredibly unmemorable since it's not an awful stinker to compare the worst to. Basically the Super Bowl LIII winter for us down here.

I have a friend who lives in Eugene who said she at got an inch of snow two nights last week. Did you miss out on that?

EUG has had 0.3", downtown Springfield has had 0.2"

All of it fell between 3-6 AM and was gone by 9 AM.

Crazy that we didn't even score our lowest temp of the season in this cold wave.  That came back on Dec 7 at 22F under a fake cold inversion.

I hope I’m the face of futility that this was a product of low solar and we see more of these events as we grow deeper into the minimum.

I hope so too. I just wish that factors like sunspot cycles and PDO weren't taking place against a background of rapid planetary warming. It is awesome that Seattle recorded its snowiest month in 50 years, though--that's the kind of thing I wasn't sure was possible anymore.

A little disappointing down in NW Oregon that this anafront "event" looks to be busting. Oh well....

WOW it is dumping snow again. Radar has really lit up in the last half hour or so.

Yeah, I'm watching the returns slowly grow towards me again and hoping that I get another inch or two. 32F

There is wet snow in the coast range falling under that band to at least 600', unfortunately that area of precip just isn't moving.

It's not moving.

Yep and by the time it does it will probably be during the middle of the day. :(

Thursday night looking like a close call for valley snow, and Sunday morning showing some promise. I'm sure both events will make a last second trend 150 miles north...

At this point our winter storm warning for 8-12" here is going to bust big time. Not even raining, been dry since about 10-11p.

Still snowing. Temp up to 32.4...was 31.8 when I went to bed. Not sure how much more I have picked up...probably another 2” or so. Incredible!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

....and the car in the front driveway is just a vaguely car shaped mound, I'll have to get a picture of it went it is lighter out

Nah. Flow will be onshore at that point. If it isn’t, it means we’re still prefrontal and in an overrunning profile.

Bottom line is it isn't going to be cold enough anyway to produce snow even to flirt with the valley floor.  I don't see it happening with or without any east wind.  I like you see onshore flow.  I was just trying to figure out Rod's thinking.

The temp has also shot up to 46 here. Unbelievably not close to snow for a potential event.

Yea, I'm sitting at 45.3f I have dropped almost a degree in the last hr but no precip yet. I probably won't see any for at least an hr or more. This was a very marginal event anyway for us valley maggots.

I wasn’t expecting any sticking snow, but thought it would at least be an interesting little dynamic morning.

The precip is coming, that's not a question.  Just slower than progged.  Temps will drop when it sags SE.  Just don't think temps will drop low enough.  I'm curious that if temps do drop and there's enough precip left could be see anything this evening provided temps lower more this evening.  Have to watch both temp profiles and precip amounts tonight.  We're grasping for straws though at this point.

It's timed just perfectly to go through during the middle of the day.

Both my internet and tv satellite dishes are covered to the point of not working so I am on my weak cell service with one bar of strength. Not going to be easy to the dishes since my roof is very steep and very high.

Still snowing. Very wet snow now with a temp of 32.8.

Unknown depth of snow, my guess is 17-20” or so. Haven’t measured.

Yeah my sat dish is buried because the snow is too deep on the roof, never had the issue before LOL
