Totally incredible. The FV3 is 100% on board for another round of significant cold just like the GFS. How is this possible after having the block in place so long already. Something really spectacular going on here!

Pretty crazy stuff, I used to think February was a lost cause for winter weather in the PNW. Now we've had Arctic air/snowfalls in Feb 2011, Feb 2014, Feb 2017, Feb 2018 and now this. No other month has come close in terms of delivering winter weather in this area this decade.

4 to 8 inches for many. To me the 500mb pattern looks like it could bring far more.
If KSEA gets 15.3" more, the old 1916 record for February snowfall is toast. Probably won't happen, but something to think about.

So....we have the GFS, FV3, and Canadian showing some Arctic air seeping in again later next week, and the ECMWF not too far from it. Good trend right now.

The lower solar cycles may be coming home to roost. It is thought the weaker solar cycles cause a slower (more blocky) atmosphere which causes the more extreme events. It's highly possible the last half of the 20th century and first part of this century were unrealistic compared to a norm of more severe weather.

Slightly possible, but I bet Sea - Tac had more than downtown in 1916. This will be a more impressive February overall regardless. Feb 1916 was just the end play of greatness that dominated January.

The Euro isn't as cold as all of the other models. Waiting for the EPS to come in.

I'd highly suggest to do some studying up on how to read the models, and the timing. It will be worth your while

Some of the pictures from North Bend look like some of the pictures from Bellingham in December 1996... Crazy. Not quite as much, but close.

Like a funnel of warmth. In the Woodinville area, you're at freezing, but in Bellevue, you're in the upper 30s.

Funnel of warmth. Sounds like a ride at the North Bend carnival.
Downsloping east wind. It was the east wind that also caused all the snow. Its an interesting micro-climate for sure.
I just know there are lots of people who still need help and I am very happy to see the warmer temps there.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for yyj which really surprised me given how marginal the situation is. They’re putting their balls on the line stating the afternoon commute will be difficult
They have a tendency to do this in overrunning situations. I'm pretty sure we'll see a bit of wet snow today, but nothing I'd consider meeting the warning criteria. That said, it's nice to see the NE winds strengthening this morning and 850mb look to stay below freezing the entire time.
