All roads in Whitefish and Flathead County are closed for the next 12-24 hours to non emergency vehicles.  Never seen that happen before in Montana, in my 10 winters here.

WSW for 5-10" valleys, 1-2 feet on the benches, even more in the mountains. Seems way overdone, but it should still be a nice storm!

Getting slammed here this morning. About 6" of new snow today so far and still dumping. Looks like the snow should continue to fly all day today into tonight. Currently a bone chilling 4F (40:1 snow ratios!) with double digit below zero wind chill readings.

Snow is moving south right now, should start here in about 2 hours. After all the warm weather it feels cold out there for just being in the upper 30s.

Blizzard like conditions here currently.  8" of snowfall so far on the day. We actually had a nice little break with sunshine early this afternoon but the snow returned late this afternoon and the winds have really picked up. Very serious blowing and drifting snow now occurring. As you can imagine the roads are a mess as the plows cannot keep up with all the drifting.

Currently 0F and dropping with light snowfall still falling. Wind chills of -20F right now. Its brutal out there.

Snow has picked up here ahead of schedule. Up to 2". With these water ratios, wouldn't be surprised if this storm over performs and I end up with 6"+.

Kind of odd the NWS hasn't issued a WWA.

Dropped down to -11F here this morning. -20F at the airport.

Really incredible Montana snow depths state wide as we head into late February. Many locations have already broken their all-time February snowfall records, including Great Falls and Billings. The 24-36" snow depth up in Havre really sticks out. They've seen 31.8" of snowfall so far this month. Average for the whole month? 3.9".

I have a 25" base here currently just south of Bozeman with many 4-5' drifts around.

I drove from Craig Colorado to Loveland this morning. It wasn't that cold at home (-6) since it was still snowing, but the coldest car thermometer reading I had was -24 between Muddy Pass and Walden (it was clear there).

Still, this is by far the mildest winter I have seen here. I'm guessing that the cool temperatures won't last long.

Officially -20 in Craig this morning; it was -26 ar my house. This was the coldest temperature of the winter so far.

Thus far since living here, we have never had a year that didn't drop at least into the -20's. I thought that there might be a chance this year, but this morning changed that.

Touring in single digits and sun was fun this week. Riding chairlifts during arctic front last week.... not so fun. I'm hoping we will flip 180 to a stable ridge of pressure for April & May, it would definitely be a winter & spring to remember for skiiers at that point.
