Where did you see that? The lowest temperature in Havre that month was 10F on the 31st.

Havre did record an incredible -16F on October 13, 1881. That's by far their coldest early season temperature on record.

It is listed as the October record low for Havre in the WRCC database.   Looking at the daily NOW data though, it appears to be an error, and a big one at that (54 degrees off!).

AccuWeather has released their winter forecast and it's a good one for all of us! No real surprises as it looks like a pretty typical Niña forecast to me but lines up pretty close to my thoughts of the upcoming winter as well.

Looks like a pretty classic snow event in Colorado on Monday. Denver-Boulder area has about 5" ensemble mean on the ECMWF (10-1 ratio).

It's gonna be real tough for the Denver area to see ~5" of snow with temps around ~33-34º during the daylight hours this time of year.

Speaking from recent experience up this way, the ECMWF seems to be struggling with accumulations in marginal setups so far this year. Surprisingly the GFS/NAM 3km have been more accurate with the last couple of snow events here.

Plus, it looks like some of the snow will come early morning Monday.

Yeah it looks like a lot more moisture behind the front.

Winter Storm Warning now in effect for 4-7" for the urban corridor, more in the foothills. These storms with borderline temps are always so tricky to forecast accumulations...I wouldn't be surprised if I only end up with a couple inches, but also wouldn't be surprised to end up with 8-9".

Picked up a quick 1.5" this afternoon during a nice little snow shower burst. Heavy, wet Volkswagen size flakes coated everything quite beautifully!

How would you summarize the climate where you live?

The Köppen Index classifies Bozeman as having a "Dry Continental Climate" (Dfb). The area averages 20-25" yearly precipitation with rather wet Springs so I wouldn't classify this area as "dry" per say.

Beautiful summers with highs mainly in the 70's and 80's and frequent afternoon storms with cool nights in the 40's and 50's. You learn to dress in layers in the Spring and Fall. Could be 70F one day and 20F and snowing the next day! April is actually the snowiest month here. Come mid June everything really greens up and leafs out with beautiful wildflowers everywhere.

Winter is long, cold and snowy. You're almost guaranteed snow on the ground for at least 90 consecutive days, December through February while averaging 114 days of snow cover each year. We average more than 40 days at or below 10F yearly and nearly 20 days at or below zero yearly. Record low is -46F here with average snowfall being ~90" yearly.

Lots of seasonal transitional variety with cold, snowy winters is how I would honestly sum it all up!

About $700. I went with the Weatherlink/Meteobridge setup without the console. So it's running completely independent from anything through my modem. So much better than having to run it through a PC/MAC and don't have to worry about those darn middle of the night software updates that shuts down everything!

Woke up to 3-4" of wet, heavy snow this morning. Moderate to heavy snow continuing, should start winding down around noon. Looks like the 4-7" will end up as a good call by the NWS most places.

Any tree damage around your area? Looks like a good snow event!

Yeah, definitely some big branches down here in Boulder. Not as bad as the May storm, though.

How much did you end up with? I saw DEN only recored 2.8" but the Boulder area recorded 6". It looked like the Boulder area was the big winner.

Yeah, that's pretty normal. DEN is almost always on the low end for the metro area, and Boulder usually on the high end.

4" or so in my backyard. I was at work all day so I might have had a bit more than that before some melting in the afternoon. As a reference, my house is about 15 miles from Boulder and about 20 miles from DIA.

Rapidly melting already? Might as well not bothered to fall. :)

Kidding aside... beautiful pics. The air looks unusually clear and clean as well.

I tried to climb Mount Sniktau after work, but ran out of light before reaching the summit. Here us a view east just before sunset. After the sun went down, it got cold quickly, but I guess that's expected at 13,000 feet.

Expecting about 1-3" here tonight as the front moves through. Out ahead of the front I've been getting winds gusting over 30mph and temps in the low 60's. Going to be quite the temp drop here in an hour or so!

Will be fun to see what kind of hourly drop I'll see.

Still looking at my first chance of accumulating snow on Saturday, but if it happens it won't be much. ECMWF has been consistent showing about 1" at my house...so we will see.

Picked up 2.5" here overnight while recording a low of 24F.

It's breathtaking out there this morning with the clouds clearing and the fresh snow! Few pics I took at home and on the way into work.

Where are you at now for seasonal snowfall, Kayla?

8.5" as of this morning but we're getting dumped on pretty good right now so I'll probably add another inch or two to that total by days end.
