Strong cold front moving in tonight which will drop highs into the low 30's tomorrow and teens for lows over the weekend. Expecting 2-4" of snowfall here and 1-3" in town.

Down to 28F and dropping here with heavy snow falling. Looks like about an inch so far but the snow should continue through noon today.

Bobcats are playing at home today at 2pm. Snow will likely be over by then but the fresh snow and post frontal winds will still make for a very cold and raw game with wind chills in the teens and low 20's.

Was just going to say! Pretty impressive for only 7:30pm and still with a solid cloud deck overhead. If we see any sort of clearing we should easily drop into the low teens tonight.

Ended up with 7" of snow with no melting or compacting throughout the day. Quite the October storm!

Love watching these snowy fronts slide down the Rockies.

Initial cold front arrived here about 45 minutes ago, dropping temps from near 60 to the mid 40s. Showers are moving in and should quickly switch to snow by 10.

Enjoy it down there!

Moderate snow has actually started back up here again. Might put a damper on the record lows for here tonight but could add to snowfall totals.

The Rams / Broncos game tomorrow is going to be interesting if the snow continues into the afternoon tomorrow, especially if the snow begins to stick as opposed to melting.

Only dropped down to 18F here last night due to an extensive low cloud deck and snow showers. Ended up with another inch of snow raising my 24 hour snowfall total to 8".

Looks Bozeman has a current snow base of 8" but it is suspect because it shows them only seeing 4" of snowfall on the day yesterday. If the 8" holds true it would be the highest October snow depth since 1975.

Some Ram players have never been in sub-freezing games. Looks like that is not a problem so far.

Still some great fall colors in Bozeman but we're well past peak and the leaves are falling quickly now. Still beautiful to see the colors with the snow though.

First above average day here yesterday since Oct 2nd. As such, the Bozeman area sits at -7F departure on the month which will rise but it's looking like a lock for another below average month.

Pretty boring weather here for the next 5-6 days otherwise. Slightly above average and dry. Possible pattern change to cooler/wetter as we approach the last week of the month which would make sense climatology speaking.

Kind of a complicated and active upcoming pattern here. Next week is looking extremely wet with varying snow levels. Accumulating snowfall is looking likely here but just how much is the question. Not really a good consensus with the models either.

As of right now it looks like Monday, Wednesday into Thursday morning and over the weekend look to be the best shots of accumulating snow in Bozeman.

Either way, the surrounding mountains look to get slammed which means ski season begins next week!

The ECMWF continues to advertise a quick hitting arctic blast for here with below zero readings. The 00z and now the latest 12z shows lows dropping in excess of -10F on Thursday morning with highs struggling to climb above the single digits. The GFS isn't nearly as aggressive with the cold air so still lots of uncertainty in the models.

The ECMWF is also the most robust with snowfall totals next week where it shows 6-10" in town and 8-12" IMBY.

So early to mid next week could either get very cold and snowy or just somewhat chilly and snowy. At the very least it's something fun to track!

Highest daily snowfall: 7.0"

Highest snow depth: 7.0"

Cold but likely dry shot of air here this week. Kayla will get the brunt of it. First meaningful snow may be a while off yet.

Cold air starting to settle in here. Had some light snowfall this morning with just a dusting of accumulation. Looks like the snow showers should pick up this afternoon into tonight and tomorrow as the Canadian cold front continues to push south.

The ECMWF continues to insist that we'll see 6-10" by the end of the day on Wednesday while the rest of the models are much drier. I guess the ECMWF is picking up some sort of snow banding over the next few days.

Models are also now in agreement that the cold air and unsettled conditions will last through at least next weekend.

Looks like it will be a chilly week here, but only a small chance of snow. The coldest temps should stay to our north and east.

Just measured 3" of snow on the ground IMBY this morning. Moderate snowfall is continuing to fall as some banding is starting to train right over Bozeman. Live view over MSU where it is a very snowy morning.

Took this pic just before leaving for work this morning. About 4" before I left and still coming down at a good clip.

Looks like about 5-6" of snow in town currently and still coming down.

Yeah we do really well with these clipper like systems. Almost always overachieves with the Euro having the best handle on snow amounts in these type of systems.

I think you guys will have a good year, just might take a little longer to get going.

Incredibly foggy out there. Was a beautiful early morning and now we're just stuck in this pea soup fog with light snow. Here's a before and after.

Winter Weather Advisory issued for this afternoon and tonight. Expecting 2-4" of new snow.

Models are advertising a light snow event here for Sunday, but I'll believe it when I see it. Every hint of precip in the models has faded as we get closer lately.

Looks like we will actually get our first widespread precip event since late October tomorrow. 1-3" predicted, with higher amounts by the foothills.

About 3" so far with moderate snow continuing. There have been much heavier echoes to my west all night and this morning, I wouldn't be surprised if Boulder has 7-8" now.
