This appears to be inevitable. Looks like game time temps will be in the low to mid 30s with snow likely.

Will be interesting to see if they cancel the game or not. Opening day is a huge deal downtown...a lot of people will lose a lot of money.

I think the freezing line is the threshold for most venues. Detroit cancelled last night when it was 29°F. I know Minnesota just flat out never cancels though. Has Colorado ever cancelled due to cold temps? It ain't easy to pitch when it gets below 50 or so.

Minnesota has a dome...it's currently 30 with light snow. The only other game day I remember that was this cold was the playoffs in October 2009. I believe they've cancelled games because of snow before.

Picked up 4.5" of snow in about 90 minutes here this evening with a strong cold front that was forecasted to be all rain. Even the airport switched over to snow rather quickly with this event. This incredible season just continues to overachieve somehow.

Still some light snow showers around currently. We may get another burst of snow tomorrow morning and once again tomorrow night. 7 days into our second snowiest month of the year and I'm already sitting at 19" of snowfall on the month.

Yet another big snow storm is approaching tonight here in Montana with Winter Storm Warnings up. Looks like Billings and Havre will shatter their all-time snowiest winters by tomorrow. Of course Great Falls already broke their all-time snowfall record a couple weeks back. Bozeman is slowly inching closer to its all-time snowfall record of 158.5" sitting at 131.2" on the season currently.

Looks like the NWS is going with 4-6" in Bozeman tomorrow which honestly looks like it could be on the low end according to the latest 00z model runs. I'd go with 6-8" in town and 8-12" on my rooftop. Quite the late season storm!

Overnight model runs have increased snowfall amounts even further this morning. Looking like 8-12" in Bozeman now and 12-18" just south of town IMBY. Looks like we could easily see 2-3" per hour of heavy wet snowfall rates beginning late this morning and continuing into this evening.

Very possible this storm ends up breaking my highest daily snowfall (16.6" back on 12/20) total on the season.

I measured 8" of snow and snapped a pic a few hours ago and it's been coming down heavy since then so I'm probably at over 12" now. Our 3' high well is buried again. Looks like February again out there!

Ended up with 12" of snow with this latest storm bringing my seasonal total to 211" (17.5 feet!). Very impressive late season storm.

Took a few pics and noticed that a few of our new Aspens are showing the first signs of budding and life again! Starting to really look forward to seeing things green again. We've had snow on the ground and complete dormancy since October. It's been a long winter!

I hope not! But yeah, hard to imagine ever topping 200" of snowfall here again unless we are reentering a 1970's type regimen.

Had a high of 60F this afternoon around 1pm which was my warmest temp since October and was still in the mid 50's at 2pm before the strong cold front pushed through here.

For the Front Range it looks like a decent snowstorm is possible this weekend. Saw the ECMWF had 15" for Boulder last night, but most runs have been drier than that.

Ended up with 5" of heavy wet snow here this morning. Wet snowfalls are always gorgeous with the snow sticking to everything. Reminds me again of the PNW. Our new leafless still Aspens do not approve however.

Currently 25F.

I think spring will be finally arriving for good soon.

It could be in the 70s this weekend in MN where it was in the 20s with a blizzard last weekend.

Yeah the ECMWF is looking really promising for this weekend and beyond with 50's to 60's and plenty of sunshine. :)  We're well overdue. GFS doesn't agree however... <_>

Kayla, we are going to miss your photos as the weather warms. Winter definitely has been good to Montana.

I'll try to keep posting some this summer as well! Plenty of beautiful changes to come shortly from our very fertile and mineral rich soils once we can get rid of all this snow and get a good stretch of sunshine and temps in the 50's.

I agree with Tim that more traditional late spring weather is moving in. For Utah, it looks to warm into the 60-70s all of next week.

Holy s**t! I'm in Vegas for a work conference, and just checked the weather obs back home. The Broomfield airport, which is about 5 miles from my house, was reporting 69 mph winds with gusts to 86 mph for two hours this afternoon. Still gusting to near 60, apparently with a lot of blowing dust since it's been so dry: http://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBJC.html

Nice, what days?

Coming in on Sunday. Actually going to be there for almost two weeks for this project. After the storm blowing through this weekend weather doesn't look too bad for the most part.

Very cool. If you want to meet up for a hike, let me know...I know plenty of good ones in the area :)

Hopefully we get a lot of moisture over the next couple days. Everything is just starting to green up, but should really accelerate over the next couple weeks.

I destroyed my ankle today playing basketball, so it might have to wait till week 2, but that sounds fun. I will let you know when I am healed enough to give it a try :)

You guys go hiking?   If so, I wouldn't mind joining you as well.  I'm working in Loveland for most of the rest of the year and I also visit Salt Lake area on a regular basis.  I was going to be in Boulder tomorrow (plans were to climb some of the Flatirons, but weather will probably change that).

I don't know if anyone is interested, but here are the hikes I have done so far this year:

Pretty big storm is moving in here currently. Looks to start out as heavy rain turning to snow during the overnight hours. Winter Weather Advisory is up for 2-4" of snow in town and probably 3-6" here. Could end up with 1" of total precipitation by tomorrow afternoon.

Woke up to 3" of snow here this morning with heavy snow continuing. Very heavy rainfall last night before the changeover with already 1.04" of precipitation in the past 24 hours and counting.

Pretty impressive upper divergence and lift with this system producing the heavy precip with Bozeman right in the bullseye of the best dynamics.
