Ended up with a fluffy 3" of snow here last night. Already down to 11F but clouds are on the increase once again so I doubt we get much below the upper single digits.

Looking like another 2-4" tomorrow with highs in the teens so a chilly day. Strong cold is still on tap for Sunday with accumulating snowfall and the coldest temps of the season. Feels like winter has really settled in here now.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Number of subzero days: 5

Managed a skiff of snow from a brief, moderate snow shower this evening. Pathetic compared to the potential with this pattern, but it's more action than I've seen in weeks.  <_>

I think we literally posted at the exact same time. Sorry to hear that you continue to struggle to see winter. Definitely feels and looks like winter here.

Ended up with 4.2" the 25-26th. Looking at 1-2" tomorrow on top of that.

One last storm on Sunday before things calm down again.

Nice. Maybe this will be one of those winters you outdo me.

That Sunday storm for you is my next "chance" at something.

That could be, although maybe with 1-2 good spring storms you will get ahead again.

We ended up with 1.3" today. Could edge up a bit more with light snow continuing.

Enough snow last night to cover the driveway and add a little to what fell Christmas Day and Wednesday. It's trying to snow now but just seems to be spitting now and again. Tomorrow ought to be interesting when the snow starts blowing everywhere. There's supposed to be up to 50 mph winds.

Winter weather advisory for 1-3" tomorrow, which I think I agree with. Might be 2-4" further south in central Utah. Trend has been to slow down timing so its coming in later afternoon or evening.

Today's 18z now shows 3-6" here on Sun night/Monday.

Can Tim or someone else post the Euro snowfall map?

Looks like limited moisture, but high snow ratios. ECMWF Kuchera algorithm has 2-4" near Boulder, and higher totals as you go south of Denver especially.

Picked up another 2" of snowfall this morning.

Chinooks are in full effect now out ahead of the strong cold front. Still looking like 2-4" tomorrow with strong winds and plummeting temps. First real taste of winter.

Yeah, NWS discussion mentioned Euro has been driest but all models have trended wetter today.

2-4" seems like a good bet around here, but could be 6"+ south and west of Denver.

Arctic air moving in now. Picked up a quick 3" this morning with the heavy stuff moving in now along with the front. Likely another 2-4" this afternoon so a decent storm with the gusty north winds. Lots of drifting already out there.

Should drop near to below zero tonight with highs only in the single digits tomorrow and around -10F tomorrow night.

Temp down to 19F and dropping fast with 35+ mph winds and heavy snow at the house.

Heavy snow and north winds gusting over 40 mph being reported at the airport currently. Winter has arrived!

Over performing storm still in progress here. Very high post frontal snow ratios and still ample moisture are the likely cause on this one.

Up to 10" on the day now and still dumping out there with a current temp of 11F. Heavy drifting also continuing.

We had less than 1" with the last storm, a disappointment.

Maybe it doesn't matter since east winds are blowing it all away now anyway. Looking for some gusts of 50-60 mph at my place tonight.

Ended up with 14" of snowfall yesterday. Looks like about 8-12" in town. Tied for my biggest single day storm since we moved here. Still amazed at how horrible the models can be for Bozeman. The NWS was only calling for 1-3" of snow yesterday. Huge bust.

About 18" of settled snow base out there currently. Had a midnight high of 8F and already down to -10F here tonight.

Happy New Year everyone!

The overnight low in the town we moved from about a month ago was -18 at the official weather station.   That's means it almost surly was in the -20's at the old house.

cr 1.JPG

Here in Grand Junction, the overnight low was a balmy +10F.  I'll miss the cool nights in summer, but in a lot of ways it is nice to have mild winters.

Grand Junction only drops below zero and average of five days a year.  At our old house, I recorded an average of 61 days a year where it dropped below zero.

Dropped down to -12F here this morning. -16F at the airport and a bone chilling -38F in West Yellowstone. If I'm not mistaken, I believe thats the coldest temp in the lower 48 this season so far.

-4 in Grand junction this morning (where I live now); but -28 at Craig where we lived before a month ago.  That's means it was probably in the mid -30's at the old house, but I guess I have to stop posting about the old location.  -4 just isn't that interesting for January.

Next storm moves in Saturday night into Sunday for me. Models trending wetter as it gets closer. GFS showed a 5-10" storm, but most likely will end up in the 1-4" range.

Another storm on Monday but I will be at AMS so I will miss it.

Wow, Grand Canyon Airport had a low of -15 yesterday. That's about as cold as it gets in that area.

Also, Santa Fe hit -7 on 12/29, which it looks like ties their all-time December record low.

Impressive. At 7000' I would have though Santa Fe's all time low would be colder than that for December.
