Rained this morning, nice afternoon with a little bit of sun popping through. Now the clouds have thickened up again and some SW breezes have kicked in and it looks like it’s going to rain again.

Well tomorrow doesn’t look great but Saturday and Sunday look nice for the Seattle area. Looks like rain possibly next week but it looks like the persistent rain pattern may be starting to fade.

Besides the rain this morning, it’s only been brief light rain this evening. Probably not even a full tenth of an inch total today, mostly decent day overall.

Skies remain clear down here. Just going to be some light rain this afternoon at best. Now looking like we probably won't even come close to the monthly rainfall record.

I saw I got some props (Thanks Jesse!) for my prophesy about late April mirroring last year. Just call it like I see it. Wish it wasn't so.

17th day in a row with rain here.     Seattle has only had 3 days with no rain this month.

Its really hard to believe the last 10 days of April are going to dry out a little   Why does this have to happen??

Well some people did not appreciate it. As of now, it is still sunny down here. And it has not rained for nearly 3 days.

Woke up to heavy rain again here... getting to be a little silly in terms of persistence even for my area.    Does not surprise me that some drier weather is ahead.   That is usually how it works here.

Just like last month with the persistent dry conditions it had to change sometime. This year like we’ve all said a few times has been a year of persistent patterns. Wonder if the next pattern after this will be as persistent as some of the weather patterns we’ve encountered so far this winter. The rains have been getting a little ridiculous up here but they have been beneficial for the ecosystem.

This wet period was 100% expected and almost inevitable as I mentioned in late March.

yes I remember you mentioning it in late March when we were all concerned about the dryness. I am not sure that the persistence of this rain was anticipated however.

I thought it might be about as persistent as the dry weather in March given how streaky this year has been,

Would have been impressive if we could have gotten the consecutive rain streak at Seattle to go past 12 days. We already beat the 1955 record for April this year. Will be interesting to see how April 2020 plays out compared to this and last year.

What surprises me is that the last few years any dry weather outside of the winters months is automatically ridiculously warm.

From an outsiders perspective it literally sounds like you guys just went through some sort of miserable historic stretch of wet weather. Then I look at PDX and SEA April rainfall and it shows me that a whopping 2.78" and 3.10" has fallen at those stations month to date. Bozeman has seen 2.23" this month and everyone can't stop talking about how beautiful of a month it has been even with a wet weekend in the forecast.

So what's the problem??

Another day with no measurable precip and another one with just .01", though.

And yesterday, even though it had .13", it all came in 2 quick showers - one early in the morning and one in the evening. The rest of the day was dry and had some sun, with temps rising to the low 60s in the afternoon. Not exactly a "rainy" day.

Typical whining. The bulk of the heavy precip was Salem-south. I guess Seattle set some kind of consecutive rainy days record for April, but many of those days just had a few hundredths. Further north precip is near to even below average.

Its not really whining... its just discussing what has been happening.   Nobody said it was a big deal.   I have said that many times.   This was totally expected.

Its not about the amount of rain either... its been the persistence of rain.

If SEA got 4 inches in 2 days and the rest of the days were dry... we would be saying how beautiful its been even though there was much more rain.

You guys crack me up how you will go back and forth on amount of rain vs persistence of rain.  Can't you find something more interesting to talk about?

I pray for November to get here as soon as possible so fun topics are discussed.

November will get here in exactly the same amount of time as every other year... praying will not change that.

The problem is a few people aren’t happy unless our climate is consistently emulating the desert SW for the bulk of the warm season.
