The ridge is stuck there and blocking the jet stream and that is why the PNW has been dreary lately. It's pretty amazing they were so hot.

I read somewhere that they beat their old record by 5F (all-time). That's pretty impressive.

It has cooled down significantly in Anchorage with only low 60s yesterday, but fires are still making it smoky. Over one million acres have burned so far.
