It was off to the east for the most part... towards the Cascades. It made for spectacular scenery.

I took a pic of the TV when I turned it on because my son was following Fred Couples around the course today and he had just got to the 18th green. Freddie is tearing it up... -16 after 2 rounds and a five stroke lead heading into the final round.

20190824-182610.jpg

My son works there and has access to everything. He can also golf for free at that course whenever he wants and he has been playing maybe 3 or 4 times a week lately and having a blast.

Side note... the announcers have been repeatedly saying how wet it has been here and how soft the greens are as a result. That is playing a major role in the low scores as well.

What does your son do at the course?

The conversations about edibles must have inspired you.

Ok. Had a long day and just checked in. That may be the wittiest comment I have ever seen. Touche, good sir!

What does your son do at the course?

A variety of things... primarily a server in the restaurant and he is on the team that handles banquets and weddings.

Nice improvements for the holiday weekend on the 00Z GFS and ECMWF. Need to see consistency now... still don't believe it.

What an awful Euro run. Luckily there has pretty much been zero consistency from that model lately.

Pretty cool that your son has that access.  I played in my company tournament this afternoon, and between the rain Wednesday, Friday, and the drizzle/rain today the greens were quite soft up here as well.  At least it was cool.  For a while it was getting into mid-upper 80's on tournament day.  Absolutely miserable since it is a links style course with no trees/shade whatsoever.

latest gfs run still doesn’t look too bad for Labor Day weekend but like you said need to see some consistent runs. Hasn’t been much consistency in awhile.

Some decent sun breaks already here... and the cloud bases are high.   I was expecting this morning to be drizzly with thick low clouds... but its totally dry.   Should be a pretty nice afternoon.

12Z GFS is even farther offshore with the ULL for next weekend compared to its 00Z run.

It shows an ideal holiday weekend for summer activities.    But I still don't trust it.    I suspect later runs will start showing a trough coming in from the north.

All summer activities can be done in the summer in any weather, it doesn't have to be a certain kind of weather.

OK Chris.

Technically... we could go boating and swimming in January too.

However... ideally its best when its sunny and in the 80s.

I did book a reservation... which is likely why the models are trending better now.  We should thank Andrew for reminding me.  :)

If it is as nice as the 12Z GFS shows then we will definitely be cancelling.

The fact you book reservations elsewhere for every summer holiday says it all. You need to move, dude.

Not every summer holiday.  And we don't actually need to use the reservations very often.   But we definitely take advantage of our location and close proximity to more reliably sunny weather when necessary.    Its a really nice benefit here.  It makes living here even more enjoyable... so many options.   :)

On the bright side, the models seem to have converged on the idea that we only see 2-3 days above 90 this week.

There aren't many places that have more reliably nice summer weather than the PNW. Not sure how moving would help him.

I was thinking that as well. And with the option to jump over the mountains quickly... its even better.
