August 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

12Z GFS is even farther offshore with the ULL for next weekend compared to its 00Z run.

It shows an ideal holiday weekend for summer activities.    But I still don't trust it.    I suspect later runs will start showing a trough coming in from the north.

All summer activities can be done in the summer in any weather, it doesn't have to be a certain kind of weather.

Do you have plans to trend east?

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

OK Chris.

Technically... we could go boating and swimming in January too.

However... ideally its best when its sunny and in the 80s.

I did book a reservation... which is likely why the models are trending better now.  We should thank Andrew for reminding me.  :)

If it is as nice as the 12Z GFS shows then we will definitely be cancelling.

The fact you book reservations elsewhere for every summer holiday says it all. You need to move, dude.

Not every summer holiday.  And we don't actually need to use the reservations very often.   But we definitely take advantage of our location and close proximity to more reliably sunny weather when necessary.    Its a really nice benefit here.  It makes living here even more enjoyable... so many options.   :)

There aren't many places that have more reliably nice summer weather than the PNW. Not sure how moving would help him.

I was thinking that as well. And with the option to jump over the mountains quickly... its even better.

Pretty breezy day here again today on banks lake. Yesterday was as well. Overall the weather here has been breezier, cloudier and cooler than I thought it’d be, besides last weekend which was hot.

Partly cloudy, breezy, and 63 here at the top of Snoqualmie Pass.

And wow! 98% of the time when I travel for work I am hitting the pass at about 5am during a weekday so it’s me and semi’s. I much prefer that! Weekend warriors in full force on a Sunday afternoon ...Lots and lots of distracted drivers!

F*ck Fred and f*ck this climate.

Sounds like you hate this climate and need to move.

That’s the go to on the forum these days...right?

Unfortunately you can count me among the distracted driver group. We were coming back from a weekend trip to Moses Lake and saw the upcoming traffic jam on Maps so we decided to take a parallel road after Cle Elum to go around some of it. I was so focused on scarfing down a $5 lunch from DQ that I didn't realize I was going 51mph in a 35mph zone. A nice Sheriff, a respectful conversation, and some pure luck lead to me getting off on a speeding ticket. Not a mile down the road another cop had pulled someone else over. I'm thinking a lot of people were doing what we were doing and they had an eventful day on that road.

Anyways, yeah, I can attest to the pass being unusually bad today. I can only imagine how it's going to be next weekend.

I heard the traffic was horrific through Cle Elum, the person I was meeting at the pass was delayed nearly an hour due to it. Glad you got out of the ticket!!

Just noticed that Friday was the first day with a high below 70 here since July 7th. Sure has been another sunny warm summer

Helps if you live in a place virtually immune from the marine layer. ;)

I will say that the last 5 weeks have been a much more normal mix of sunny and cloudy days around here for summer.

47 and clear here as the sun rises. I bet the marine layer moves in in a couple hours again.

Not today... there is no marine layer to move in.
