11/26 - 11/28 Winter Storm

MPX:

Bumpy and unstable low level clouds are

bubbling up across eastern Nebraska and Iowa, a sign that bands of

rain and snow are developing and soon will be widespread. Radar

trends across northern Iowa confirm this. The southern edge of the

cold cloud tops is lifting north into southwest MN to east central

MN and northwest WI. This is typically known as where the heaviest

swath of snow will set up since this is also where the strongest

lift is located.

Similar to the night

shift, today we still expect the heaviest snow to fall from

Fairmont and Mankato to the Twin Cities and particularly the

southeast metro, into northwest Wisconsin. There is a 35-60

percent chance of exceeding a foot in this corridor. Recent model

runs have been shifting this corridor around, but satellite trends

and the suite of NBM members makes us fairly confident this

corridor will remain north of some of the deterministic solutions

that are keeping the heaviest snow near Rochester.

Plume of moisture with connective elements all the way down to southern iowa

Yep- moderate rain shower moving through as I write. Latest HRRR at hrs 8-12 actually shows 1-2" imby. First run of that I've seen. (and probably the last)...

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Thanks Tom. I would go out and measure but it’s so nasty I’ll wait. House is nice and warm and my wife and daughter are baking holiday cookies. Yummy.

That’s awesome! Enjoy the ambience. I can smell the cookies all the way over here! Just had a vision of what it must look like out by you. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasnt a weee bit jealous. Soak it all in my friend.

check out the dewpoints in and around Wichita,KS --- near 0F. Must be pulling in some dry air from NM and TX. Don't recall seeing that before in major winter events.Screenshot_2019-11-26 AWC - METeorological Aerodrome Reports (METARs).png
