I don't know who's worse, you or Tim,

You droning on and on about wind and Tim droning on and on about rain and drought.

I don't know if you have it out for me or what, but I don't post about wind every day, so....how about we don't go there?

Seems like kind of an odd comparison. Like comparing someone who washes their hands after using the bathroom to Howard Hughes.

The negativity sometimes. And I am guilty as well.

This is geared towards my trade but something we should all try to do. A good read and I’m working on it.

I never said I don't like you, I just can't fathom your insatiable infatuation for wind.

Is it a core requirement of joy or is it the meteorological equivalent of heroin for you?

No, it's genuinely something that makes me happy, strange enough to say. The way the wind blows the branches around, the way it whistles through the powerlines, the satellite images as the storm wraps up just off the coast-- it's all so cool.

I gaze at the IR loop envisioning a strong block near 160 W. If I have to I'll just make it turn cold and snowy, but you'll have to wait until December 19-26. I can't just do it at the snap of the fingers. I'm not that fancy.

Really I just want a good south windstorm. Been a while— SEA got Hanukkah Eve. I think NW Oregon’s last widespread storm was at the very least December 2014 (not as strong as Hanukkah Eve by a LONG shot), as 12/14/06 kind of skipped over Oregon in its tirade (peak gusts were actually pretty weak in the Valley).

We have a spare room if you wanna stop by during our next inland hurricane.

That would be amazing! I remember the waves crashing over the dock at the lake house (faces north) and then freezing onto the dock causing a big massive block of ice to develop on it...those were the days.

Scandi block probably is dominant initially..could do a full retrograde across the Arctic/Greenland then into Alaska by mid-January. Perfectly timed for the coldest part of winter.

This doesn't look too shabby. Not a ton of cold air to work with but it's still a long ways out and most of the major players are there.

Certainly could look a whole lot worse for Christmas than that. Take it as a W for now.

Hope you guys get some accumulation before it shuts off. Not sure when your next chance will be.

Possibly next week/weekend. Active storm train with cold air to the north..hard to ask for more in Dec. Better than another shut out. 🙂

Regardless of how the future plays out, it's nice to ready stormy AFDs like this for the near term.

Feels like it's been a while.
