Since all of these posts are getting mixed in with the coronavirus thread, might as well have a separate one.

Hopefully there is no need for this thread soon!

Good decision we needed a separate thread. This one will go a while, this isn’t like the other killings. People are really pissed off.

All politics aside, simply personality and divisiveness-wise, Trump has to be about the worst case scenario to have in office at this point.

Of course, his never ending feuds with the mainstream media do nothing to help, as many of them are eager to paint him in the worst light possible - even when they know that could stoke anger and division even more.

Gonna be a long summer. And a longer fall should he manage to hang onto the presidency.

Went to Home Depot a bit ago with the aforementioned protest about a block away. There was police along the road.

Funny that I had got into it with a friend of mine over Trump’s COVID response which evolved into a discussion about his entire presidency. He proudly brought up how there have been so big flare ups in racial/LE tensions since he took office. Whoops...

I honestly don’t know how they do it when these things flare up. There’s little opportunity for constructive dialogue and heavy introspection in an effort to recognize and eliminate white privilege when you respond to and have a lawful duty to act in a dangerous situation. I guarantee that despite the vitriol, people are still calling 911.

People love to blindly criticize them for using force during riots. They have their own lives to worry about, what would YOU do as an officer if you had people throwing fireworks at you?

Rumors have been spreading here as well about some thugs planning to riot and loot local businesses in Covington. A local coffeeshop posted on Facebook that they were informed by law enforcement they were a possible target due to them being "a community loving and law enforcement supporting business". They asked for anyone's help to protect the shop and I guess there is a small group of people out there now standing by with guns on their hips. There is a "Covington Maple Valley Watchdog" group with 2k people registered in 6 hours who are committed to protecting local businesses by proudly exerting their 2nd amendment rights to bear arms.

I guess there was a small group that peacefully protested in Covington as well a couple hours ago. Nobody looted, or rioted, or threw objects at police - just walked down the street with signs and chants. As it should be done.

Just what this country needed during an already heavily politicized global pandemic - a match to light the fire of racial tensions again. One thing after another in 2020.

I would be absolutely perfect. I would preserve life and property, I would use the absolutely PERFECT amount of force to do so despite the fast-evolving and sensory overloading nature of the situation, all while taking a knee.

Yep, both sides are to blame and the constant fighting back between Trump and the media does not help. Gotta remember Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were the 2 most unpopular candidates for president in American history and most voted for whom they did in fear of the other candidate rather than in favor of the one they voted for.

Since that election the left has become even more radical than they were at the time, and it looks like the 2020 election will be a repeat of 2016, but with the voters fearing even worse consequences either way.

Fortunately the right has become far more moderate and level headed to offset the radicalizing of the left, though.

I think we should bring Bush and Obama back for two years as co-Presidents. They must find consensus.

Ted Cruz, he's got a good chance to win the Republican nominee in 2024.

If that was an actual option on the ballot I would seriously consider it.

Me too.

The current situation is really hampered by the fact that we already have one big component (the executive branch) that is essentially incapable of advancing a reasonable discourse. Of course it takes two to tango so throw in a disorganized. similarly reactionary opposition and dump a bunch of fuel in the form of racial tensions and a looming economic depression, and you're left with a situation that seems to have no stable path forward. Whatever happens, sanity needs to prevail. But it's going to be long and ugly.

It would be a big mistake for the instigators (Antifa, mostly) to make a move on the suburbs.

Sure way to get some gun deaths going.

I suspect a lot of them probably live in the suburbs. They won't sh*t where they sleep anyways.

Wait, we can bring former Presidents back from the dead in this game? In that case I will take an Abraham Lincoln/Teddy Roosevelt combo pack.

Didn’t realize you were serious. If we are talking about living Presidents then I’ll take Slick Willie

Tom Cruise has a better shot than Ted Cruz.

Sounds like the roots of those rumors were proved fabricated.

Lyin’ Ted could barely beat Beto in Texas. The nickname will haunt him the rest of his political career.

In many ways, yes he was. Especially when compared to the extremely low bar set by our current fare.

How many days does this continue to be a protest before it becomes a lifestyle?

Am I a decade too late?

Well youth unemployment is as high as 40% now. Not like they have anything else to do.

So this is what the mainstream media thinks of antifa. "Direct action"?!

I mean seriously, what the f*ck... They make it sound like antifa are some moral crusaders against the big bads of the world. Ridiculous.
