Seems the models are having a lot of trouble figuring out how to handle that huge trough later next week. The 12z Euro moves it through, but keeps it mostly north and limits rainfall chances. Which would be climo.

63 and mostly cloudy. Clearing will probably be faster and much more expensive than yesterday...so we probably have a shot at the low 70s.

Going out to Anderson island the next couple days...usually runs about 3 or so degrees warmer down there than here...should be nice.

It was a brutal day to be out taking photos but so worth it! Winds were howling !!!

Picture with the railroad bridge is on the Sandy River by I-84

The neat ice formation is a road that was 20 feet away from the Columbia ( spray from the wind and waves accumulating).

I don't think I've seen the ones of the Sandy River before. Next time it freezes over, I'm going to try and walk accross it.

Weird.

 

We walked on the frozen edge of the Columbia in December 2005, near Rooster Rock. The ice can get pretty thick even during a relatively pedestrian cold spell like that.

Good lord, he was the one who said he wants to try it. It probably would have been doable at the tail end of the '96 blast. Especially if the river was running on the low side and it was in an area with gravel bars.

Today seems to be running cooler than even yesterday so far. Still just 66 here with only a few breaks in the clouds. That is cool for almost 3pm in late July.
