Gusty winds remain throughout the day, they'll be back next week as storm churns over SNE. Many days of unsettled wx on the way

Snowfall is beginning to lag behind 2013-14 now. December got off to a roaring start w/ precip, but the flip to cold/dry hasn't been very productive, thus far..

Texas is getting plenty of water. Ft. Worth received an average of 1.5" of rain this week. Winter rains really make a difference for us when it comes to whether or no we have a rationing problem. Hope we get a lot more.

Say Phil, did you reach Linda yet? I know she really needs help in her research.

a great call on the mostly rain sleet mix slop on 95 and the citys due to the lack of a blocking high to the north to hold the cold air in this past storm.pattern those looks to be getting much better this last week of january and febuary for some real threats.

Another day of soaking rain. About 24 hrs. This is more like a normal winter for us.
We're expecting around 3/4 inch, but are still behind out average rain and in a mild drought condition.

Hey Andie,

Well, after writing a load of misinformation about me last week, iFred has blocked me from using my personal messenger. He doesn't seem to be responding to me publicly, so maybe give him a little nudge if possible? ;)

We can continue our discussions via email, assuming I can't get access to the PM system here any longer.

in truth excep december the cold has it been the problem it just been the timing that has been the issue which can be thanked on the +ao +nao for most of this winter and the northern stream which has been favering miller B out comes faving new england more then anyone else really.it clear anything past 3 day on modeling phil has to be viewed with exstream caution even hours before the storms models haven't been handeling the details all that well.realm of the story it been one of these winters lol.

and the models are showing big storm potential normaly I would get excited over but this winter has proven time and time again to cause timing issues or things not timing out right.im going to wrait a few days to see how this trends.I see what you mean by the 93-94 like pattern we have been stuck in for the past 2 and hafe years.seems like we have been in the same over all pattern with some slight difference since 2012-2013 . hopefully when we get past our weak max and start the bottom fall out of cycle 24 we will get out of the 93-94 like pattern.those depending how low the cycle gets later this decade who knows phil how severe winters may get after 2017 and in the 2020s on.if it gos real low brrrrr will be the word.

the cold looks like it going to be pretty much a certainly.storm wise not so much the weekend looks like another new england specal could be in the making what's new this winter lol.our real hope is what happens next week with the 3rd storm.the lack of a -Ao/nao combernation has really ruined what would have been an historic winter for most of the nation in large part thanks to the weak solar max phase we are currently in.i think this winter as phil has stated has proven how a active sun -qbo can suck over all outside of new england of course.and with the +ao nao your always got to be conserned about the storm happening between cold air masses.idealey the best outcome would be the coaster track but giving the trends this winter is reason why one isnt getting hopes up until it happening in there eye's which is fair.if we end up having a neutrul enso next winter west qbo as you said phil the 2013-14 93-94 analog may again be at it again lol.what a stuck pattern since 2013.p.s the models are showing much better improvement on next weeks system.best potential storm look for the reagion this far this winter.we may finally have something legit of own.also phil I have notice what looks to be the best AAM we have seen this winter.

Impressive squalls tonight most of the state pick up a couple inchs from these lines of snow squalls as the front was moving though.now it's the wind and the epic wind chills and cold.wind causeing lots of issues tonight.fire dispatch is loaded with trees falling on houses calls.also many wires down calls.this certainly gos down as quite an event not with how much snow we got but the combenation of snow on the ground with high winds with the exstream wind chills makes this a event to remember.

if we are getting cold shots like this winter and last in a weak solar max phil I find it interesting to see what happens when we start to hit the bottom of this solar cycle and the start of the posssble low min cycle winters starting around 2017 and after.

A week of ice, sleet, snow, and very cold temps. began Monday and has continued.
I believe they call that winter.

Today we had 32* and light snow. Very nice to drive around in with no traffic snarls.
I could take some more please.

A surprise snowstorm. We received about 3" and there's freezing drizzle behind it.
North of us about 30 miles will get twice that.

Then 2 days of cold rain.

Then next Tuesday.....73* and thunderstorms.

Well, it IS Texas and we have a gift for these kinds of weeks.
At least it's interesting.

a break your back type morning side walks drive ways side streets are a complete ice rink after the reagion got one of the worse ice events in a few years. 0.15 to 0.25 was common yesterday quite an event for a late febuary/early march ice event.some of the ice cicles phil are 8 inchs long.

another round of slop sleet rain mix moving through the reagion should go to all rain tonight into tommore but the real show is tommore night into Thursday when data is strongly hinting at a wave forming on the front setting the stage for quite an snow event.it all depends how fast the front passas and where it stalls.but could be a set up for quite a snow thump in the cold sector tommore night into Thursday . going to be a wild very changeable 36 to 48 hours of weather.

Winter won't let go its death grip.

We're looking at 27* tonight with sleet turning to snow. Upwards of 3" of snow on the way.
Very windy and rainy right now but we're at 32* so it's nearly here.

Got 4" of snow that poured down in sheets and high winds. Really beautiful. Just north they received 7".
Much will melt and get slushy today and the refreeze will be just awful. It's been a crazy late winter.
22* at 8:30 am.

a great event most of the region got 6 to 8 but were issolated locations that got more then that.for a +AO nao combernation winter to get decent snows like this winter setup is pretty remarkable in its own right the power of the great -Epo and pna for two and a hafe years now quite an amazeing consistent pattern we been stuck in.

this 50 degrees today feels like a heatwave compared to what we been through the last few weeks temperature wise.the bad thing is this weeks warm up is a false spring in a lot of sinces as winter comes right back on or after the 15.

My family in Massachusetts would like to weigh in here. But they can't find the front end loader to shovel out to get to the computer so I thought I'd express their sentiments.
They're somewhere around 100".

Indeed not.  We're seeing transitional weather here. Damp, some rain, thick fog this morning. One golfer out on the 7th fairway this morning likely could not have seen any further than 125' so he was golfing using the Braille system I think. He vanished in to the mist.

More rain in a few days. Very quiet winds for us after having a very windy winter.  Texas usually has very windy March weather. That may mean an April we'll regret.

the problem with snow events late march is that they tend to be more of a pain then anything else.unless the snow can come down heavey more times then not it's a stuggel to get much to lay then it melts a few hours later.one reason im not a fan of late season events eather be a big storm or bring the warmth.these small events like yesterday are reather useless then they are enjoyable.
