Perspective .. shared with the Laundry Lady. ..

... "the Laundry Lady". .. I think of her more as the "mayor" here really. Even though she's from the next town "up the hill".

… She run's the main local laundry here in town. She used to run one on the other side of town—more old-style, e.g. old machines, a third of them "out of order" most of the time—until a new one opened up, more "these days" style, more "space-age" and shiny; .. card-slot payment, digital read-out timing, computerized security, and "wi-fi".

.. About 7 or 8 years ago, my old washing machine broke down; and with my not wanting to put out the money for a new one, me and my wife started doing our laundry, out. And so have followed her ever since.

— In her seventies, sharp as a tack. If of more incidental note, Native American, and from the Central Valley:  Folsom, CA .. just north of Sacramento.

.. In any case, as people do, more basic conversation wise, I've found myself talking to her about the weather, certainly on occasion. .. Paradise, CA .. here where I am, is in fact a fairly dynamic spot on the map weather-wise. This mainly with its two in fact, main orographic challenges presented in-coming system energies; both West, and more South facing. And with its sitting at .. from the lower to upper 1700s .. elevation wise—just east and up the hill, from Chico, more down in the Valley. Plus and in addition, she lives in "Magalia", again more up the hill, at nearer to 1900 ft., and so gets "snow" when me and my wife—and most of Paradise—get only rain more. (52 inches more annually, on average.) And so, with this in fact, where at this "Laundry", you'll see and here quite a bit going on weather related. .Just for one example, if more summer time "heat" related, with and during one of the recent "fire" threats here and around, an whole troop of "CDC" ("California Dept. of Conservation.) "fireman", stopped by there, to do their .. "Duds". ….

So, with all of this "potential", and my also sometimes sharing some vegetables with her from my garden more summertime, we generally talk about the weather some. .And with this, I tell her .. what I'm seeing more "Satellite", etc. related and focused more. Again mainly more "Seasonal Weather" connected, this if with certainly sometimes, our talking about something more current going on.

$$ —> This season if more last year, early fall, .. with and if of course, "drought" having been a big issue. .And with this my having told her that I'd been looking at this time-frame more current as being similar to the 1976-7, fairly severe drought [period] here in CA. This if perhaps with this idea, what we'd been seeing being more a mix part and part, with it .. looked at together with the main Nino more major in 1996-97. … Flooding in Sacramento, etc..

And then further, with this idea, that I'd expected a return to wetter conditions where looking ahead more at the time, somewhat similar to what had occurred post the "76-77" drought. … So far so good at least, where considering this idea.

(cont. next post.) … Oh. Btw here, .. Please do feel free to tack in any more general thinking that you might perhaps have to share, where looking at a more "Seasonal Weather" type perspective and the Far West, if you like.

More at this point, and with our.. here more in CA, having received some amount of drought relief, even "some" in and where considering more Southern CA, .. what I'm planning to tell her tomorrow .. when me and my wife take or laundry in is, ... More than (opposed to.) a more solid return to wetter weather [here], that it looks as if it's more of a "Shipment" scheduling / "on and off" type, "return". .Or that is, and with where looking at a best case scenario of course, ... one decent and hopefully somewhat more sustained "delivery" of main precip. .. at a time. Hopefully not to infrequent.
 
— This with then suggesting to her (filling in my thinking here a bit somewhat.).. that with the recent big press of cold more Arctic, SW and down through more central CA, and more here during the more initial "cold" of the season, that it, had steered some snow into more Southern CA; and along with this, even appeared to have, some rain into Mexico.
