Wow, it is absolutely ripping down snow in my backyard in Southwest Omaha right now. Low visibility with fatties falling from the sky, with no wind. Getting the full snow globe effect outside right now. Looks like around 2 to 2.5 inches of snow has piled up on the deck and on grassy surfaces, and some snow is starting to stick on the driveway and sidewalks as well.5 points
-
2.5-3" of slush in the grass depending on where I measure so I'll go with 2.75". Looks like KLNK has reported 3.5" so far.... seems a bit a high but believable I guess since it's on the NW edge of town.4 points

Just measured in a few places on the deck where the snow hasn’t compacted and came up with an average 6 inches of snow as well in Southwest Omaha. What a nice surprise! And we should add on another inch or two to these totals as snow has picked back up again.4 points

Full sun and low 50s in E NE tomorrow. It's gonna sound like a waterfall outside I'm sure.3 points

Radar is blowing up again west of Omaha and Lincoln. Large area of snow heading in. 38 degrees and some rain around KC. Northern MO should do well tonight.3 points

Nam for the win. I’m at 5”, and thinking when all said and done will have a 5-8” band between I-80 Platte river from tri cities East. I’m sure will see isolated pockets of 8+.3 points

Moderate/heavy snow still hanging back towards the Tri Cities. Wouldn't surprised to see some double digit totals for some places in Omaha metro before this is done.3 points

Just had a period of pea size hail move through briefly turning decks and dirt spots white with a temp right at 40F. Pretty dynamic system...3 points

Well darn the dry air is feeding in but it was an enjoyable snow. Alot of compaction but I would guess around 4-6 here. Perfect snow for snowballs and snowman. Build one with the daughter although short on a carrot and charcoal.3 points

Up to 2" in Lincoln. Our biggest snow of the season and it'll be gone by noon tomorrow3 points

Big flakes here. Looks like a snow globe outside. Starting to stick to the deck and grass. Pretty scene2 points

The first 12" total has appeared in far south-central Iowa, where the 4-6" fell from the first weak wave early this morning.2 points
-
Measured 4.5" at my place as it's pulling out. I'm slightly bitter about barely missing the 8-12" band, but still enjoying the pretty night. Seeing the reports just to my northwest, KLNK is probably gonna come in close to 6".2 points

Ripping again here too. Although much smaller and grainy snow now. Kinda worried because there is some wind and these trees are sagging. Might make a shot at double digits. Oh and roads are now getting covered.2 points
-
Ripping here again and the street is covered. Seems to be piling up faster than earlier. Still not going to get the 6-8" here but I bet OAX regrets saying that nowhere in Eastern Neb will get 6" today lmao2 points

Man it sounds like some of you in Omaha are killing it!! My cousins live in Millard and they have 7” and counting!!2 points

Wow 6" in Omaha?? Another near miss in Lincoln, definitely wasn't our year. Can't wait to just be on clean slate for the first event of 2020-21.2 points

Congrats Omaha on cashing in. May as well have it big in April. Tom, congrats on the promotion!2 points

Good luck everyone. The radar looks impressive. The sky is dark to my south.2 points

Snow records have been kept in Lincoln for 120 years. April has been the snowiest month in 2 out of those 120 years: 1992, and 1997.2 points

Good luck getting appreciable accumulations for another couple hours out there in Nebraska with the sun angle. I'm worried about that here tomorrow as well.2 points

July and August are already pretty dry on average just by themselves. It's our driest time of year. So a dry July and August doesn't necessarily mean a very huge departure out this way. We don't have a summertime precip max like you guys do back east. Usually all it takes is one or two rainfall episodes to get us up to average for those months out here. If we are able to get some decent rain in the next two months we will be better set up for our normally dry summer. What really screwed us over during terrible fire years like 2015/17/18 was having our normally showery mid to late spring period completely skipped over before embarking on a scorching and bone dry summer. If you are correct about the cooler part for this summer, that will help too, since cooler weather generally decreases evaporation in fuels and soils.2 points

Southern Iowa will have more 8" snowstorms in the past 2 seasons than I've had in the past at least 5 years. They've done quite well in southern Iowa the past 2 seasons. Hard to believe a snowstorm missing me to the south on April 16th. I kept hoping for a north shift, but even the NAM is now abandoning me. LOL. Oh well. Bring on real spring please.2 points

Flakes are finally starting to fly again with better size flakes than previously. Not enough to accumulate yet.1 point

Snow is falling in Iowa City. The U of I webcam shows some nice, big flakes.1 point

Today is day 17 on our dry streak...glad that the models have gone to wetter solutions for the final 3rd of the month. Looking forward to getting some rainfall again.1 point

Looks like oax was off. Roads stayed fine but definitely beat out the forecast.1 point

Based on how the heaviest band is just sitting over us, I'm surprised they didn't change to a wsw. I guess they don't like going back on their forecast. There is definitely dry air to the South but so far the band looks healthy.1 point

Even with some sun with the wind it was a very cold walk today. It is still windy here with a temperature of just 38.1 point

Update from OAX.... We're working on new snow accumulation expectations. There will still be heavy snow over southern half of the area, but it looks a bit too warm this afternoon to get 6" to stick in eastern Nebraska. Much will melt as it falls or lands. Ugh: Spring snow forecasts.1 point

Yes. Southern Iowa has been nailed by several sneaky, big snowstorms in recent years. It doesn't seem fair when we struggle to break free from the 3-5" chains every year.1 point

There is already a 5.5" snow total well south of Des Moines in Iowa, and that is just from a little weak wave early this morning. Seriously, a weak-a** little mid-April wave dropped more snow than I received from any storm all winter.1 point

Last week of BN temps for a while here. Back to normal soon. Just need to get through Friday.1 point
