  1. Is there a chance we knock a couple degrees off the high at PDX tomorrow since they will be starting out a bit lower tomorrow morning? Or are we on the downslide with the outflow?
  2. Even if we have a couple days well into the 60s or even approaching 70 we will still likely end up below normal this month.
  3. Pretty good bet we see some warm weather in March. I don't think it will last long, but I will definitely enjoy it when it arrives.
  4. Just noticed there were sub-zero highs yesterday in parts of Nebraska. Those places barely got above zero again today. Absolutely incredible.
  5. Record low and min max at The Dalles today. 27/16. Redmond, OR broke the record min max of 24 from 1960 with a high of 20. It was also the coldest recorded high ever at Roberts Field in March.
  6. Pullman, WA came within 1 degree of their all-time March low this morning at -3. They are already down to 0, I think they have a shot tonight.
  7. Roseburg recorded their 2nd straight record min max. Amazing what residual snowcover can do. A bit further south it was near 60 in Medford today. Roseburg was just 39, breaking the record of 40 from 1951. It appears this was only the 3rd sub-40 high at Roseburg since 1899.
  8. Wanderer's Peak east of Molalla and Horse Creek about 7-10 miles east of me are down to 7 and 17 respectively. When you see those snotel stations getting cold like that you know there is some depth to the airmass.
  9. Went out to the west end of the Gorge this evening. Absolutely stunning.
  10. Already very cold out in the Columbia Basin in places where skies have cleared. -1 at Boardman, 1 in Pullman, 12 in Tri-Cities.
  11. PDX sitting at 38 at 11am. I doubt they see much if any warming after 2pm. Don't think a sub-40 high is in the cards, but 40-42 seems like a good bet.
  12. Salem all the way up to 43 already. Their highs always seem to be a few degrees warmer than anywhere else in the valley anymore. Amazing they managed 26 straight sub 50 highs. I'm running 8 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time, but they are still running exactly the same as yesterday.
  13. It looks like precip is initialy rain or freezing rain for most of the WV and then it turns to snow overnight into Thursday morning as the upper levels cool.
  14. When I heard he was missing in that storm I thought for sure he was a goner. Was glad to hear he made it out.
  15. I think it is heat stress. We've had some wet years and very wet winters as Tim would like to point out. But yet we still had die-off's in 2017 for instance. The very hot temps also combined with the lack of marine layer. The trees west of the Cascades are probably used to that cool wet air and the fog drip to help sustain them in summer when there is no rain.
  16. Be interesting to see what kind of high PDX can pull off. Currently 34 with East winds gusting to 35.
  17. Long range GFS is more progressive, but still cool troughs with some mountain snow every couple of days. Warmer than what we are getting now of course.
  18. Sunset last night. Some bare patches starting to show on the roof by the bathroom vent.
