February Snowfalls 2/10-2/12, Part III & IV

Both my internet and tv satellite dishes are covered to the point of not working so I am on my weak cell service with one bar of strength. Not going to be easy to the dishes since my roof is very steep and very high.

Still snowing. Very wet snow now with a temp of 32.8.

Unknown depth of snow, my guess is 17-20” or so. Haven’t measured.

Wow, this event is incredible for some places up there. I’m glad someone scored out of this awesome pattern. Almost sounds dangerous.

What a crazy storm. I see places from Everett north are still reporting sub-freezing temps and light snow.

And insane rain banding still ongoing just west and north of Portland. Scappoose picked up 2.26" in 24 hours, and another half inch since then. Appears some places like Vernonia may have seen even heavier amounts overnight.

Snowing again in Edmonds this morning...I say again because there was considerably less snow on my car than there was when I went to bed last night. Must've rained for a good bit. Flakes up north were fairly dry, but very chunky down here in Tukwila.

Power is out here

Still? Didn't you lose it last evening? It's been out all night? If so, here's hoping you don't live in an all-electric house!

Mine went out during the transition do rain around 19:00 and came back on around 21:30. I was expecting it to be out for 12+ hours, considering how the slush was bringing down trees and branches on lines all over the place.

It's called clown range for a reason.

I think Timmy has been under this heavy band the last few hours. Wonder if it all turned to snow at some point?

Lol, I’ve been under it for over 12 hours! Too bad I don’t have a rain gauge. It literally just turned to snow... i expected the switch over 7 hours ago.

Oh wow, thought you would have a couple of inches by now. Maybe you will pick some up in the next couple of hours.

I kind of doubt it. If I dont, the op gfs would be the big winner here, every other model for the last 72 hours shows at least 6” here and many showed upwards of 12”. The euro and the HDPRS were most bullish.

Crazy- that band hasn’t budged yet.

Yeah this seems like a major bust. The models have also been terrible with the placement of the precip. At one point yesterday evening the Hrrr and NAM showed the heavy snow band over the east side around this time. I haven't even had precip in 8-9 hours.

It actually has moved sw in the last hour, just ever so slightly. I wasn’t getting rain before, but it has been raining the past hour here.

Impressed at how slowly it is moving and how well it is holding up.

Astoria down to 37 so there is cold air working in behind that band...

McMinnville down 5 degrees to 40 on the hour. I'm not expecting much if anything, but at least it is finally on the move.

The temp has also shot up to 46 here. Unbelievably not close to snow for a potential event.

Those are just SW winds ahead of the front. Near and directly behind the frontal boundary the profile has become somewhat isothermal. Problem is the boundary stalled over the NW Oregon Coast range all night.

I was pretty surprised when I woke up this morning to see the front essentially in the same spot as when I went to bed, and that PDX had shot up close to 50.

Oddly enough I think TTD was the only west side location to actually hit 50. The south wind spiked in there around 4-5am. The hours on either side had east winds and temps in the mid-30s

Unfortunately I cannot post pics with no internet and very weak cell signal. Need to worry about digging out my driveway before working on the dishes. Anyway waiting at the main road for my neighbor to pick me up so I don’t have to hike to his house to grab his tractor. He can’t get his gate open yet. Anyway lots of huge chunks of snow falling from the trees along with some branches I am noticing while I’m waiting. Temp is 32.9. Snow has mostly stopped.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!
