DEN hit 99 yesterday for the third time this month, still haven't managed to touch 100. All but three days this month so far have been 90+. 35 90+ days this year - which is just under the yearly average.

Fortunately, the next week doesn't look too bad with temps in the 80s to near 90 every day and a chance of storms most days.

Wow, didn't realize that its been that hot out there.

Still no 90 degree days at Bozeman MSU this year so quite the contrast. 84 is still my high mark. Very pleasant 78/46 here today.

Looks like town will make a push for its first 90 on Wednesday before what is looking like a severe storm threat day on Thursday.

Hottest day of the year is likely today with highs reaching near 90 degrees. There is a chance for some weak storms to develop so that could prevent Bozeman from recording its first 90 of the year but that seems unlikely at this point.

Chance for some severe storms tomorrow along with a nice little cool down back into the upper 70's and low 80's this weekend before the heat builds back in next week with several days at or above 90 degrees looking possible.

Getting a refreshing stratiform rain this morning with temps in the 50's after a hottest day of the year yesterday. Bozeman did indeed hit 90º and 87º at my house.

Rain looks to continue for a couple more hours this morning before things break up and become more unstable this afternoon with a decent chance for severe storms.

Got a nice soaking here today with a 0.25" of rainfall with a chance to pickup more before midnight with showers continuing. Bozeman Airport picked up 0.50" on the day so far.

Also had a gorgeous sunset tonight.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sounds like you guys have been torching lately just like us.

June has definitely been torching since 2015 (aside from last year).

July has been easily above normal every summer since 2015.

August...not so much. Last year was very warm, but that came after four coolish to normal Augusts in a row.

Had a severe warned storm pass right overhead this afternoon and it was a doozy! It absolutely poured for a solid hour with winds gusting over 40mph. It felt quite tropical out there with the sheets of rain coming down.

First two thirds of summer have been way below average up here. For Bozeman Airport, June had a -2.9 departure and July had a -3.5 departure.

August has started hot though with my location hitting 90 degrees yesterday for the first time since August of 2018.

Adds up. Although your location is definitely on the cool side of things regionally.

Today marks the 50th 90+ day of the year at DEN. Still no 100+ days, but a lot of 95+ days.

The record is 73 90+ days from 2012. We'd have to have basically unabated torching between now and mid September to beat that.

2020 says hold my beer.

Despite the high number of 90+ days this year, 2012 was far worse to this point. June was almost 3 degrees warmer than this year, and July was two degrees warmer. And a whole bunch of 100+ days.

OLM has been SIGNIFICANTLY cooler than DEN too. Food for thought.

Extremely smoky here today, about that worst I've seen. First thing I smelled when I woke up this morning was the smoke. Can't see the mountains at all and could barely make out the Denver skyline from my neighborhood.

Dropped down to 39F here this morning under clear skies. Coldest temp since July 2nd. Definitely feeling like a taste of fall these last couple of days. Too bad that there is a massive ridge moving in on Sunday through most of next week.

Looks like we'll be near/over 90 most of the week. Still only two 90 degree days (average is 7) in Bozeman this summer so I guess we are due for a few more.

We've really dodged the smoke this year thus far. Those fires are blowing up in NorCal and a strong southwesterly flow is setting up so it's about to get real smokey here until the flow shifts more northerly.

Really strong storm moved through here tonight with continuous lightning and thankfully very heavy rainfall. Picked up 0.54" of rainfall in 20min so we had quite a bit of flooding.

I'd kill for that. Haven't had hardly any soakings here at all the past 3 months.

It was really nice. Been very dry here as well but today brought my total up to 1.22" on the month with hints of wet pattern to close out the month.

Smoke from NorCal has arrived here. Very humid out after the heavy rain last night and the smoke layer helping to trap all the moisture in.

Southwesterly flow looks to stick around here for the next 4-5 days so the smoke isn't going anywhere until a trough looks to shift the upper levels to more westerly on Tuesday.

Just so surreal to me.

Yeah, we'll see. It would be quite early for even here. I'll take any sort of pattern to push all the smoke back south and west though!
