If clear skies occur, then, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, and the Dakotas will be able to see a glimpse of an aurora Saturday and Sunday night. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Possibly as far South as Kentucky. I don't think we'll have clear skies here, so I'm rooting for partly cloudy which I think is the most reasonable thing we can expect here.

Aurora will be centered over Northern Michigan, but the line of sight may extend down into KY. Once again, depends on the clouds though. Doesn't look too good tomorrow night.

Wow...awesome. Hopefully clouds remain away.

Wow, zero tornado watches this year from eastern Nebraska through much of Iowa.  Also, not a single severe thunderstorm warning for Waterloo.

Our weather has gone dry again.  The Saturday rain totally crapped out.  Models show nothing for the next week+.

On a side note, I'm glad to see the models taking the storm farther east off the east coast of FL and up the EC.  In terms of our sensible weather, this will allow the storm to interact with the storm that is going to swing down in from the north and pull the storm out instead of it tracking into the southern U.S.  Unlike year's past, storms would enter the Gulf regions and "vent" big heat ridges into the central CONUS  Instead, we will enjoy a favorable pattern that will usher in real Autumn-like air by the following weekend.  Most of us across the north will really get a good taste by mid next week as another nice, wound up, early season, Autumn storm tracks across the N GL's Tue/Wed.

Boy, it's a chilly morning across the GL's with many places dipping in the mid/upper 40's and pockets of upper 30's!  Those leaves are going to start changing color early this year, esp after the cool weather that is coming next week.

Thanks for the shout-out Niko! With the wind blowing in the right direction I might even have heard it, lol. Have a good time in Chicago. I'm off to D.C. in the morning. I was hopeful for another shot of rain but NWS keeps lowering the likelihood in my local grid so Idk.

This still gives hope at least

Dorian's only going to skirt FL and GA tho, so other than certain Bahama islands, this will be a "fish storm". Good for the peeps that live there, and our economy too.

Already meteorological fall! My, summer flew by! This is one of my favorite months temperature wise. Looks like summer will return for a few days, then back to fall like wx.

Picked up 0.10" of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Only 0.03" of that fell before midnight which adds to my August total which now is 5.78". Was hoping to make it up to 6" if we're that close, but this was great and much better than I expected.

Awesome spot in the heart of the city...that area is called "The Viagra Triangle"...you see many older men taking out younger gals in this part of town...hence, the name...I went to Tavern on Rush for New Year's Eve a number of years ago.  Great atmosphere and great food!  That whole area is hopping with bars and restaurants.  Just east of there, a short walk and you'll hit Oak St. beach.

I had 0.17" of rain fall overnight here at my house.  With cloudy skies the current temperature here is 57. West Michigan over all had a near average August with Grand Rapids coming in with a mean temperature of 70.7° and that is a departure of just -0.1° The high for the month was 89 on the 4th and the low was 49 on the 31st. At the airport they reported 3.41" of rain that is below the 30 year average of 3.59 for August. Muskegon came in with a departure of +0.4 the high for the month there was just 86 on the 13th and the low was 48 on the 31st with 2.16" of rain fall well below the average of 3.39" At Kalamazoo the departure there was +0.5 the highest for the month was 88 and the low was 49 Kalamazoo only recorded 1.73" of rain. and in central Michigan at Lansing the departure there was +0.3 with the high for the month of 89 and the low of 47. with 1.57" of rain reported

Indeed, great spot and tons of people. So many areas to choose and go and have a drink or dinner. As for parking in the city, I parked my car at this self parked garage (the shops where they validate your parking and you don`t pay as much for 3hours). Great deal!

Hurricane Hunter Planes found 175mph winds with gusts to 185 in Dorian. Moving very slow at 8 mph

That's a Cat 5 on the Simpson Scale by any stretch.

Looks like it may skirt the coast bu not cross onto land. The next turn is critical to what will happen.

But that can be rough as it will remain over warm water longer and do its damage. When it hit that 87* water off the east coast of Fla. Dorian took a deep breath and exploded in its fury.

EDIT: they just reported that Marsh Harbour, in the Bahamas is having 220mph winds!

Imagine how that is scouring the land. I am fearful for all those people.

Let's take a look back at the historic August and summer of 2019. Here in Grand Island we ended with the 2nd wettest summer on record and the wettest since 1908! 1908 beat 2019 out by only about half an inch. We ended the summer with 21.25 inches which is pretty much our yearly average! August alone measured a foot of rain. This wasn't even close to the highest total in the area either, Doniphan which is about 10 miles away measured over 16 inches :o

I love seeing the extremes. Look at 2012 and compare it to 2019. Just incredible disparity. Weather patterns are truly fascinating.  This is one year that won't soon be forgotten around this area.

My brother went up there to watch volleyball a few years back. He loved it. I watched the championships yesterday before the OU/Houston kickoff.

I was going to go also, but the line was quite long. It was cool to just listen to the crowd scream and etc. Cool stuff.
