Wow @ E ND!  All four periods with heavy snow showing. Don't think I've ever seen that on these panels before?

I have in a blizzard west of Chicago in 1978.

Interesting, shoveled a lot of snow.  Cold as you can get for a Texas kid.

Glad I experienced it, but once was good enough for me. ;)

Blizzard Watch headline should be taken out of mothballs in situations where the probabilities are likely that a high-impact and very dangerous situation is imminent. Totally silly that they did away with that option.

I was a 13 y.o. kid waking up to the other end of that bliz (east) in a small town about 50 miles north of Detroit. Due to the SLP coming too close and pulling warm air aloft, we got quite a bit of mix before if finally changed to snow. That was inside a very small area of sub-par snow totals (only 8.5") confined to SEMI. I'm sure it was bad out in the countryside but being in town, we didn't get that bad of drifting. Bliz of '99 closed some roads around Michiana when I lived there but as luck would have it, I was out of town visiting my sister where they (again) only got about 8". Thus still waiting to experience what you did..

2 hrs and still no power. Pouring outside though. Lots of thunder and action.East of us the hail has been damaging autos. I’m lucky. Just heavy rain. Very nice.

Would like some power about now. But it’ll come on about when I’m ready to go to bed.

Nice start to Fall.

Almost 1 million without power. It just came back on.

A lot of rain and high wind. Hail east of Ft Worth. I’ll have totals tomorrow.

Just glad air and lights back. House was getting very stuffy.

Quite a light show. It’ll finally cool off now into the mid 50’s.

Hallelujah.

The Dakotas are really getting slammed w ft of snow and huge drifts and are under Blizzard Warnings throughout the area. Impressive. Travel is not recommended there for several days , except for emergency vehicles.

Nevermind waiting until midnight. There are a few flakes falling here on the west side of Mpls now. We are officially on the board! Not quite 5 months between snowflakes. Last flakes I saw were on my birthday May 19.

That’s a neat stat right there. Congrats on your 1st flakes!

Saw this a few mins ago...

"Yesterday, 7.1" snow fell in Bismarck. That easily surpassed the previous daily record for October 10 of 2.3" from 1959. In addition, it was the earliest daily snowfall of 6" or more on record. The prior record was established on October 23, 1991."

Impressive.

It looked to me like a few wet snow flakes may have mixed in with some light rain that just moved through. NWS just updated forecast for Cedar Rapids to rain/snow this morning.

Nice! Had a quick shower earlier. Was watching for flakes but didn't see any. Temp has been locked at 37 all morning.

I actually have some sun and blue sky showing at the moment in the "eye" of the storm so to speak.  I am interested to see how much moisture/precip actually gets wrapped into this center of the low.  Usually the models seem to way over estimate wrap around moisture for my area, but this storm is anything but ordinary.
