Anti Marine Layer
Looks like some beaches are clearing out before the inland areas this morning.
Pn1ct0g3n
Average high for MB in August is anywhere from 74 to 77 depending on the source. Average low, 64 to 66. We’re running around 4-5 degrees below that for the foreseeable future. Downtown LA will be similarly below average with UHI factored in. Thunder98
It's still cloudy at 3:20 PM today with the very stubborn Marine Layer. Ugh this is awful. I prefer to have cloudy days during the Fall and Winter, Not Late Spring and Summer!
Pn1ct0g3n
Breeze is stiff, cool, and dry again today. Feels more like a late spring day. Winnetka is 84, or 12 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Anti Marine Layer
Marine layer was at least 3500 ft deep this morning, but it cleared out nicely with the weak inversion. Looks to be boring for a while (even for one of the boring climates there is) with no sign of any monsoonal moisture. Anti Marine Layer
Looks like sea surface temperatures have become more August-like. Too bad we can't have the above normal sea surface temperatures we had the past few summers here.
Reg
Spent yesterday afternoon-evening at Mission Bay down in SD. Some marine layer stratus floating around, but nice and cool, definitely not what I'm used to inland. Quote
Pn1ct0g3n
Low clouds took a recess last night and this morning. Nice and sunny here, if breezier than usual.
Pn1ct0g3n
Pleasant day, sunny and more typical of August. What a difference a few degrees in the sea surface temperature can make.
Pn1ct0g3n
Quite breezy. Some scattered low clouds blowing in with it. Also checked the wind in the SD area and it’s back to northwest after a week of distinctly southerly flow.

Anti Marine Layer
San Diego didn't see the big dip in July, which once again indicates the colder sea surface temperatures were concentrated towards Los Angeles.

Anti Marine Layer
Today was a cloudy Santa Cruz, sunny Monterey today. The opposite of what's usual there. Microclimates within microclimates.
Pn1ct0g3n
Today was a cloudy Santa Cruz, sunny Monterey today. The opposite of what's usual there. Microclimates within microclimates. Here, LAX tends to be sunnier than PV and Redondo with Manhattan Beach in the transition zone. The Redondo/Torrance/PV coast is typically the last place to clear out and the first to cloud over. PV itself also often wears a cap of low clouds as the ocean air is lifted over the hills there which reach 1000' in some places. I often see a ribbon of low clouds that extends for miles inland just north of PV, probably channeled in by the wind, while everywhere else the clouds evaporate much sooner. It’s particularly noticeable when the wind is from the SW or WSW, both pretty typical of this time of year. But when it’s more from the NW, we may be sunnier than the LAX area.
Pn1ct0g3n
Where did the humidity go? It’s like we turned back the clock to the much drier summer air I remember prior to the 2010s.

Pn1ct0g3n
Looks like a stronger inversion today.66 in MB and 68 in Culver City, in mid August, in full sun. That’s like late April. I can’t remember any other time it was like that without being stuck in heatwave fog. There’s hope for a mid-late week warmup down to the coast but I’ll believe it when I see it.
