Officially just hit 80F dew point at MSP. Heat index of 96F at 9:30 pm. Gross.

I heard the sirens. Apparently there was a rotating wall cloud. No touchdown though that I know of.

The pictures of this storm on Twitter looked pretty ominous.

 

I didn’t realize there would be a nice line of storms over Ks. Iowa is high and dry attm.

Tornado on the ground about 15 mi east of here on the WI border. Debris field showing up on radar. Not good.

So the cap finally weakened enough that storms could get going this morning. Looks like some of the same areas as last week will get good rains. There's still a bit of hope for a storm here this morning but most will be just south.

Last night I attended a B Day party at one of my sister's close friends place that had a real nice outdoor set up.  He hired a Brazilian chef that cooked lamb, chicken wings, ribs and steak.  My goodness, the smell of the food was amazing when I first walked outside.  The food and atmosphere was amazing.  The only thing that wasn't amazing was the stifling Humidity!  The Heat Index held the century mark till about 11:00 pm when I ventured home.  If it wasn't for the strong S/SW breeze, it was unbearable.  Everyone was sweating profusely and spent as much time indoors in the A/C.  I sincerely have not felt that kind of humidity since the Summer of '16 when I remember back in July that year my sister had a B Day for her daughter in late July. 

 

Speaking of that Summer in '16, I just happened to read a post from WGN's wx blog stating that during July '16, ORD recorded a rare 80F DP.  I also remember that it was the great baseball season when the Cub's won the World Series.  #baseball

At this time it is 80 here at my house with a DP of 73 with lots of clouds and rain in the area. The low so far has been official 78 at the airport and her at my house the low so far has been 79. Remember for this to be the low for the day it has to stay this warm until midnight. At this time the temperature here is 80 with a DP of 73.

Attm, it feels disgusting outside. Temp at 83F, Dew is at a nasty 77F and RF at 92F. It feels 9 degrees warmer than the actual temp...yikes!

 

Some t'stms are possible today as a welcoming CF approaches the vicinity. Cannot wait for the drier, cooler air ( relatively speaking that is) to arrive.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat

  illnesses to occur.
 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out

of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young

children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles

under any circumstances.
 

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When

possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or

evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat

stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when

possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational

Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent

rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone

overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Not much in the way of rain here at my house. Just 0.26" of rain. But just as I thought the temperature dropped down to 74 here during the rain so now instead of 79 the low so far today is now at 74 here and it looks like the low so far at GRR so far is 73. Currently here at my house it is cloudy with a temperature of 80 and a DP of 77.

This has been the story of the spring and summer here as well. I can count at least a half dozen times now that several models showed us getting 1-2 inches of rain within a day or two of the event, then we ended up getting either very little rain or nothing. We picked up some more sprinkles and light showers here this morning again, but nothing measurable - really crossing my fingers that we get some decent rainfall the next 48 hours.

Here at my house I added just 0.05" of rain in the 2nd batch for a total so far today of just 0.31" At GRR is looks like they have gotten as least 0.95" on the day. While to my west Muskegon has recorded just 0.18" on the day. The latest official temperature reading at GRR was 73 with a DP of 73 here at my house I have 79 with a DP of 73

Here is my area I missed out on much of the rain yesterday. I only recorded .031". At this time it is clear here with a temperature of 65. The official last reading at GRR was a warmer 70. The official low at GRR was 67 and the low here at my house was a cooler 62.

A lot of wind damage yesterday in Detroit. Trees came down, roof damages power outages, you name it. Luckily, no injuries or fatalities. Here in Macomb, just very hvy rainfall. Picked up more than an inch of water. It felt good getting soaked by Ma Nature.

Currently, muggy w lots of sunshine. Temp at 72 and a dew of 72, which equals to 100% saturation. The air cannot hold much more water. UGH! Feels like a "Sauna" out there.

 

Btw: temps did not hit 90F yesterday because of the severe weather ( as a matter of fact, temps dipped into the upper 60s at some point during the afternoon hours), so this does not count as a heatwave. Today, if we hit 90F, will only be the 2nd time. Starting tomorrow, its mid to upper 80s all week.

It "only" hit 96 today. Forecasts called for 99-100, so it could've been worse. The high humidity probably moderated temps a bit.

Received 0.40” of rain this morning. It all soaked in. They had predicted 1-2” last night but I have come to not trust those models as they’ve been wrong all summer. Hopefully more early this week as the weekend looks hot and turning dry again.

It got wild here yesterday, but mostly in the city of Detroit. Up here in my area, just torrential downpours. I received more than an 1", which was needed badly.

Don't have a big garden and it's doing ok after watering it a lot last week. Lawns still are greenish, but I'm not mowing much anymore.

Picked up 0.60 of rain in my backyard rain gauge from this morning’s storms, most rain we have seen here in a month.

 

The dry vegetation around here sucked in the moisture and it can use some more tonight... looks like a half inch to one inch of rain is possible again tonight and tomorrow morning, PLEASE keep it coming Mother Nature!
