September 2020 Observations and Discussion

GRR's graphic for tonight's storms showed a single line sweeping thru here after 11 pm but NEXRAD looks more like an army of individual cells marching W to E currently. Can't see them organizing into a "squall line" personally. Not a big deal as long as we get some needed rainfall. With the storms just a county or two north, it's quite breezy for this time of night and for end of (lunar) summer. Love a rainy night! Cue Eddie Rabbit 😀

Looks like some potent weather might be developing here in SEMI late tanite. Have to see how that plays out.

So far, the Severe Watch hasn't produced any severe warnings to our north even tho NWS statement mentions that any of the current storms could get stronger and reach severe levels. I'm more/mostly concerned with getting another drink of water around here. Otherwise, it's a great night and I mowed the part of my lawn that were tall just before dark anticipating the storms and because I have a road trip tomorrow.

My area got pounded last nite as well from vivid lightning and strong, damaging winds. It was well after midnite. I bet it woke up a lotta people 😆

Attm, everything has calmed down weatherwise. Skies are mostly cloudy w peaks of sun trying to come out. Temp is at 70F, but dew has skyrocketed to 69F.🙄

Btw: picked up a lotta rain last nite. Definately more than .50" and flooding was everywhere. Since I was awaken from these storms, I went to a nearby window to check out the scenery outside and I gotta tell ya, it was a wild one. Too bad these storms did not come during the daytime vs nite. Oh well, it was fun to watch Ma Nature in action.

NAMNest has flurries in Northeast ND tonight.

As for here, the stratus deck is being penetrated just enough to where temps are being allowed to warm even with the North flow. Still a chill in the air with the breeze. 51.4*F.

The GFS has really dried up around here this week... only 0.50-1.50" for many.  Other models are more robust with tonight's rain event, so hopefully they are correct.

I don't think it's possible on here. I know the forum platform supports it, as I'm a member of a hockey board with this layout and I can see who reacts on there.

Gotta love this quote from Des Moines NWS:

Temperatures will be much colder than recent, including morning lows
dropping into the 40s to low 50s and highs in the upper 40s to 50s
through Wednesday. Don`t look, but 850 mb temps of 0 deg C may
even creep into NW Iowa. Oof, goodbye summer.

It feels balmy outside. Some wet weather moving in late tanite through early Tuesday. Temps will be on the chilly side w readings barely in the low 60s for highs on Tuesday. Would not be surprised if the "North Zone" remains in the 50s for highs (which is where my area is).
