Tom
Big differences between the GFS & Euro for late next week/weekend. The Euro has been advertising another potent CF coming down into the Dakotas/Plains and sweeping east while the GFS is warm. That's about as opposite as it gets....

westMJim
First off a moment of silence for 9/11..............................................Here at my house I recorded 0.03" of rain since 7 AM yesterday. One of the difference of opinion I have with CoCoraHS is the timing of the reports. While the NWS has their daily reports take at midnight CoCoraHS has the daily reports starting at 7 AM and thus reports do not match up. I know may who report on CoCoraHS are farmers and they do not stay up to midnight but just a point I would like to make. At this time there is a strange fire ball rising to the east and the current temperature here is 52.

I'm looking forward to the sunnier days next week and warmer temps. Like Sparky said, my tomato's need the sunshine to produce more crop! I came home to an almost fried tomato pot that I left on my deck. The well-timed rains right before I came back prob salvaged them. I asked my neighbor to water them occasionally but I guess they didn't do a good job. So much to ask for such an easy task!

I planted to many tomatoes (8 plants) and we had way more than we could eat fresh so processed/canned quite a lot into juice for use in soups etc or to drink as is, with sugar added. Also did that with the grapes which is soooo good to drink! One thing that was weird this year was there were a lot of big 2” long green tomato horn worms eating our plants and even tomatoes. They don’t go into the tomatoes themselves at least. I killed a lot and sprayed, but I probably didn’t use the right kind of spray. Normally we have no problems with these worms. So far the average high this month is 72.6 that is a departure of -4.1 and the average low so far is 54.9 and that is a departure of -1.8. jaster220
This historic early cold wave has been interesting to say the least. I am surprised that even with temps in the 50s & lower 60s I never hunted up a jacket. I remember being cold only once. When I stepped out after shift about 11 pm Wednesday night the walk to my car was into a stiff NE wind and WC had to be in upper 40s. It was a very damp and misty night as rainfall was about to hit my region. Currently working just south of the KAZO site so there's a large tree-free area for the winds to really crank. 2 Quote Winter 2023-24 Snow Total = 53.1" (90% Normal Season) Largest Storm: 12" (1/12-13) Oct: 0.1 Nov: 2.9 Dec: 7.5 Jan: 31.7 Feb: 6.0 Mar: 4.3 Apr: 0.1 Avg = 59.2" (Harrison): 2023-24 = 53.1" Avg = 45.0" (KDTW): 2022-23 = 33.5" 2021-22 = 35.6" Avg = 49.7" (KRMY): 2020-21 = 36.2" 2019-20 = 48.0" 2018-19 = 56.1" 2017-18 = 68.3" 2016-17 = 52" 2015-16 = 57.4" 2014-15 = 55.3" 2013-14 = 100.6" (coldest & snowiest in the modern record!) 2012-13 = 47.2" 2011-12 = 43.7" Legit Blizzards (high winds and dbl digit snows): Feb 2011, Dec 2009, Jan 2005, Dec 2000, Jan 1999, Mar 1998, Nov 1989, Jan 1982, Jan 1978, Jan 1977, Apr 1975, Mar 1973, Jan 1967, Feb 1965, Jan 1918
OmahaSnowFan
Ended up with 1.99" total for the week. A bit of a letdown for sure. It's amazing how when you're running nearly 12" below normal for the year, 2" of rain doesn't even make the ground that soft. Normally after that much rain I can walk out in my backyard and the ground feels "squishy".
