  1. Past hour
  2. It actually says more about how old I am, Jesse (22). Unfortunatley I can't share your memories of being serenaded with blessings in May 1998! edit: my main point was about green grass those two years were pretty green through mid July here, 2022 especially. Definitely not the norm of the last decade or so
  3. Ugh, The View. What a bunch of squawkers! He stood his ground and made Sunny Hostin look like an idiot. I have never heard of Coleman, but I completely agree with his argument. It's quite simple: By focusing on class rather than race, you are essentially still tending to the needs of the historically discriminated communities without all the justifiable blowback of race based policy. I do not know why that is so hard for some to understand. Focusing on commonality rather than differences yields a better society. But, you know what comes next... Those at the top do not want us working together. A divided nation is an easily led nation.
  4. Today
  5. The fact that those are the two analogs you remember most readily for that sort of thing says more about the sad state of our climate than it does anything. 2019 actually had a top tier warm and dry May and an averagish June followed by a reasonable if not mild summer. 2022 had a coolish and wettish May followed by an averagish June, after which we descended directly into summer hellfire and didn’t look back until November. They’re getting pretty ancient now, but a couple better examples of a classic cool and wet May/June would be 2010 and 2012.
  6. I really hope May and June are a soaker. That usually keeps things lush into the early Summer. Already starting to see some brown in the backyard. Running out of time to save it before our wet season is used up. Nothing is worse than entering ASO browntown three months ahead of schedule and staying that way. The majority of 2014-18 were tinder dry and sickly colored. Hoping we go the route of 2019, or especially 2022.
  7. It was absolutely stellar. Taking out the trash at work was a treat.
  8. That was a really good period for salmonids in the region.
  9. Rang in with a nice line of strong to severe thunderstorms on the 1st and never looked back.
  10. Frost advisory has been issued for the Lower Garfield and Asotin zone by NWS Spokane! A freeze warning was issued by NWS Pendleton to our west.
  11. I’m afraid to hope Andrew. Do you know any priests whose counsel I could seek?
  12. Can you imagine if we are blessed with a wet May. The ENSO forecast is coming more into focus now. Really starting to look like we land on a moderate Nina.
  13. I hear you. Irrational? Yes, but I'm in the same boat and feel the same irrational fear. I need to fly to South Carolina to see my mom. I need to fly Alaska so I can use miles for the ticket but they are "proudly all Boeing" once again, and I'll inevitably be on a -900 or -900ER. Chances of something happening are somewhere between slim and none, leaning heavily towards none, but I would really love to do that flight on an Airbus. Another irrational fear situation that ended up setting off serious alarm bells in my head. I was on a flight about 2-3 or so years after 9/11 and am almost certain I was on a "test" flight for a certain terrorist organization. My wife picked up on it too, and we discussed what we would do. Flight Attendants were switched on too, and I could tell they were giving those guys extra attention. A lot of non-verbal communication between the crew when it came to these guys. They tried to congregate in the fwd and aft galley areas a couple of times and were quickly sent back to their seats. Pretty much zero chance they were going to do anything, but I was not going to take any chances. It was kind of chilling to be having in a meeting a month or so later with our Sales VP, and hear him share similar stories of what I saw through his conversations with Airline executives. Then a few months later I got pulled into a meeting at work to learn about a few other things they were doing to get a 9/11 v2.0. We were being approached to develop "countermeasures" for the things they were trying.
  14. Seems like it is mainly a North Cascades snowpack issue.
  15. Does Mark’s latest 7-Day have anything to say about this?
  16. You're burning ice. There really is something different about your place.
  17. High of 58 here. Looks like another freeze is possible here tonight.
  18. Lovely but chilly evening. Currently 49 but feels like 39.
  19. Most of Washington is not in a drought. But it’s okay for them to be proactive if they think more drought conditions will come throughout the warm season.
  20. I like the Model Y but that’s one of the reasons I’m leaning towards the Model S. It can go 405 miles on .
  21. I remember May 1998. Abiqua Creek was blown out on the first day of fishing season.
  22. The cool and wet May is looking like the real deal, Andrew. Big Nino to Nina flips tend to equate to stunningly beautiful Mays. 1988, 1998, 2010. We're bound to see blessings, and a whole heck of a lot of them. You've all been warned.
  23. Eight days and counting… out painting and hanging mirrors, shitter papers holders and such today.
